Seibolt Nets Game-Winner, Blue Jays Advance

Westminster men's soccer defeated Dubuque 3-2 on a game-winning goal from Dustin Seibolt. The Blue Jays advance to face host University of Chicago Sunday at 5 p.m.

"I'm extremely happy with the result," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We made a couple mental errors early and they were able to capitalize, but we kept fighting back."

Westminster fell behind early in the match after two goals from the Spartans in the first five minutes. 

In the 11th minute, Daniel Barone put the Blue Jays on the board on a penalty kick, cutting the deficit to 2-1. 

Kyle Collins was able to tie the game later in the first half on a cross from Drake Trease, launching the ball from 18 yards our across the box.

Seibolt earned the game-winner on a header from inside the box, sending Westminster into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. 

Westminster outshot the Spartans 18-14. Blue Jay goalkeeper Ben Chesher made one save. 

"Our character helped us fight back in the game, and from there we just took advantage of an opportunity," said Galla. "We'll enjoy this victory for a little bit then turn our focus to the University of Chicago."

The Blue Jays face host and No. 1 seed University of Chicago Sunday at 5 p.m.
