Alberty Named Fontbonne Men's Soccer Head Coach

Fontbonne University Director of Athletics, Maria Buckel, is pleased to announce Donnie Alberty as the next Head Men's Soccer Coach.

"We're excited to welcome Coach Alberty to the Fontbonne Family," said Buckel. "Coach Alberty understands what it takes to lead a program as a former head coach. Though there is a limited amount of time before the season starts, Coach Alberty is very familiar with Fontbonne from helping out with the women's program. His passion for Fontbonne Soccer is incredible and we're excited to see what the program does under his leadership."

"I would first like to thank Director of Athletics Maria Buckel, and the rest of the search committee, for the opportunity and honor of being selected as the new Head Coach of the Men's Soccer program here at Fontbonne," said Alberty. "I am very aware of the successful tradition of our program, both academically and athletically."

He added, "We aim to continue that tradition and continue to provide the most well rounded student-athlete experience possible for all current and future players in the program. Fontbonne is such a welcoming place and I'm excited to get started."

Coach Alberty is well familiar with Fontbonne as he was originally slated to be an Assistant Coach on the women's soccer team this year.

Prior to joining Fontbonne, Alberty was previously at St. Charles Community College, where he was the Head Coach for two seasons on the men's team and they went on to finish a combined 15-21-1.

There, he helped develop one All-Region First Team player, four Second Team All-Region selectees, three First Team All-Conference honorees and four others that were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Before joining St. Charles Community College, Alberty was an Assistant Coach at Missouri Baptist University (2012-15). He was the lead Assistant Coach at MBU along with developing and running training sessions. He also spent 2002-11 at Logos High School as the Head Soccer Coach.

Coach Alberty has also coached in numerous clubs in the St. Louis area including St. Louis Select, Club Athletic Premier, Elite F. C. and Metro Strikers and holds a USSF License with plans to earn higher certifications and badges.

Coach Alberty earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Missouri Baptist University in 1997 and has taken several classes towards a Master of Arts in counseling degree. He lives in St. Peters wife Tammy and children, Bryce and Abby.

Alberty's first day on campus will be Monday August 14.
