2018 Men's Soccer Players of the Week

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 29
Blake Smugala, Fontbonne University

Smugala, a senior, came up big for the Griffins when they need it. The senior midfielder tallied two goals in each of the Griffins final two games of the regular season as they pushed for a playoff spot. He had two goals and an assist in a win against MacMurray, scoring on just three shots on goal. Then against rival Webster, Smugala netted his team's only two goals in a 2-1 double overtime win. 

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 29
Drew Blair, Fontbonne University

Drew Blair picks up his second weekly honor this season after recording two wins in net for the Griffins. Blair, a freshman from Rolla, Mo., allowed just one goal in each of the games while stopping a total of seven shots. He played over 177 minutes in the two games and finished with a 78-percent save percentage on the week. He had a high of six saves in a win over Webster.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 22
Jared McPeek, Greenville University 

McPeek, a freshman from Mansfield, Ohio, had a week to remember with back-to-back hat-tricks. He netted a hat-trick in his team's 4-0 win over MacMurray, doing the damage in just 33 minutes of action. McPeek repeated that performance with three more goals in a 6-0 win over Westminster, adding an assist, in just 52 minutes of play. For the week McPeek finished with 6 goals, 1 assist, and 13 points on just 12 shots.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 22
Tenko Kono, Spalding University 

Kono, a senior from Lexington, Ky., helped the Golden Eagles to two key conference wins last week; remaining unbeaten in conference play and clinching a playoff spot. With Kono at center back, the Golden Eagles picked up wins over Webster and Principia. He tallied an assist in his team's 2-1 victory over Webster and followed with the game-winning goal, on a penalty kick, in a 3-2 overtime win over Principia.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 15
Kornell Hilliard, Spalding University

Hilliard grabs his third weekly award this season and second straight. Hilliard, a junior from Louisville, Ky., netted four goals while assisting on another in the Golden Eagles two contests last week. He recorded his 3rd hat trick of the season in a victory over Eureka and added another goal and assist in a win against Fontbonne. For the week he finished with nine points.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 15
Nick Holland, Greenville University

Holland, a junior from Ajax, Ontario, helped the Panthers pick up an important win and tie in conference play. Holland made eight stops in his team's 2-1 win over Principia including a save on a breakaway in overtime. Holland followed with a four-save shutout against Webster. On the week he made 12 saves, with a 92-percent save percentage, while holding a 0.42 goals-against average in over 216 minutes of action.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 8
Kornell Hilliard, Spalding University

Hilliard, a junior, notches his second weekly award this year thanks to his second hat-trick of the season. Hilliard started the week by assisting on the game-winning goal against MacMurray, a 1-0 win for the Golden Eagles. Three days later Hilliard buried three balls into the back of the net on just six shots. For the week he finished with seven points on three goals and one assist.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 8
Drew Blair, Fontbonne University

Drew Blair, a freshman keeper from Rolla, Mo., is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after recording nearly 160 shutout minutes in net last week. Blair came off the bench against Principia to maintain a shutout in a 1-0 win, making three saves. He followed with a complete game shutout against Greenville, stopping all five shots he faced. Blair finished with a perfect save-percentage and eight saves in 159:02 minutes of action last week.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 1
Kaleb Keller, Principia College

Keller, a sophomore, tallied a pair of goals in two wins for the Panthers last week. He started the week with two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Augustana (Ill.). Keller followed with two more goals, both coming on penalty kicks, in a 3-0 conference victory over Blackburn. He finished the week with nine points on four goals and one assist with two game-winning goals.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 1
David McLeod-Warrick, Principia College

McLeod-Warrick, a senior, stood out in net for the Panthers in two wins last week. He made seven saves in a win over Augustana (Ill.), allowing just one goal. McLeod-Warrick followed with a shutout victory over Blackburn, making one save in the win. On the week he finished with eight saves and an 89-percent save percentage. 

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 24
Juan Jose Herranz, Greenville University 

Herranz, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, scored in both of the Panthers' games last week. Against Moody Bible Herranz netted a pair of goals. He followed with the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Franklin. On the week Herranz finished with three goals on eight shots.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 24
Charles Dalton, Greenville University

Dalton, a senior from Josephville, Mo., helped the Panthers to a pair of wins last week. With Dalton on the back line the Panther defense held their opponents to just one goal over two games. Greenville notched a win over Moody Bible and then followed with a shutout win against Franklin, in which Dalton and the Panthers held their opponent to just one shot on goal.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 17
Kornell Hilliard, Spalding University

Hilliard, a junior from Louisville, Ky., led the Golden Eagles scoring last week as they picked up two wins. Hilliard tallied a pair of goals in a 6-0 win over Berea. Hilliard followed with a hat-trick in his team's 4-1 victory over Earlham. He finished with five goals on nine shots and currently leads the conference in goals and total points.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 17
Cameron Killian, Webster University

Killian, a sophomore defender from St. Louis, Mo., helped the Gorlok defense continue their impressive start to the season with three more shutouts. Killian and the Gorloks have recorded a shutout in all seven games this year and is one of just three teams to not allow a game in Division III this season. Killian played at least 79 minutes in all three games last week, allowing just 16 total shots on goal.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Abnel St. Fleur, Spalding University

St. Fleur rose to the occasion in helping the Golden Eagles pick up two more wins last week. St. Fleur tallied the game-tying goal with 1.5 seconds left in Spalding's 2-1 double-overtime win over Franklin. He followed three days later with two goals, including the game-winner, in his team's 3-2 win over Aurora. He netted the game-winner with just six seconds left in regulation. On the week St. Fleur recorded three goals on seven shots on goal, finishing with six points.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Matt Amick, Webster University

Matt Amick continues his impressive start to the season as he extended his shutout streak to four games. Amick recorded two more clean slates last week in wins over Harris-Stowe and Illinois College. He made nine saves total in the two games including a high of six against Harris-Stowe.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 4
Mani Bakari, Spalding University

Bakari, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., sparked the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins last weekend. He notched two assists, including setting up the game-winner, in a 3-2 overtime victory against Georgetown (Ky.). Bakari followed with a goal and an assist in his team's 2-1 win over Gallaudet the next day. On the week Bakari totaled five points, finishing with one goal and three assists.

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 4
Eric Volk, Fontbonne University

Eric Volk, a junior from Florissant, Mo., is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Volk played all 180-minutes of his team's two games, walking away with one win in net. He stopped 15 shots in the two games including a high of eight in a win over Aurora. On the week he finished with a .789 save percentage.
