SLIAC Announces Men's & Women's Tennis Award Winners

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the remainder of the men's and women's tennis award winners for the 2011 season. Highlighting the award winners is Principia College's Carlie Sanderude, who adds SLIAC Women's Tennis Newcomer of the Year to her collection of other honors.

Sanderude, a freshman, went undefeated (6-0) in conference play at #1 singles this season en route to sweeping through the SLIAC Individual Tournament to claim the Individual Tournament crown, SLIAC Player of the Year honors and First Team All-SLIAC.

Westminster College's Alec Belden was named the SLIAC Men's Tennis Newcomer of the Year. Belden won the individual tournament title at #4 Singles to be named First Team All-SLIAC. He also went undefeated in conference play, finishing 5-0 this season and he currently stands at 13-5 overall.

Westminster head coach Dave Dyson was tabbed the Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. Dyson led his squad to a 4-2 finish in conference play this season, including a run at the SLIAC Team Tournament Championship. Greenville College head coach Brett Brannon was selected as the Men's Tennis Coach of the Year. Brannon's team went 3-2 in the SLIAC this season and 11-7 overall.

The Greenville College men's tennis squad was also awarded with the SLIAC Sportsmanship Award for the fourth consecutive year. Fontbonne University's women's squad was also awarded with the SLIAC Sportsmanship Award for the second time in three years.

The SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Teams were also announced. The Women's Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team consists of Amanda Orzechowski (Blackburn), Natalie Wetterauer (Eureka), Maggie Pohl (Fontbonne), Katie Maurer (Greenville), Marianna Hronek (Principia), Kate Coen (Webster), Lara Banner (Westminster).

The Men's Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team consists of Jon Helgeson (Eureka), T.J. Eggleston (Fontbonne), Jesse Shaw (Greenville), Kevin Hagenlocher (Principia), Josh Sellmeyer (Webster), Steven Yob (Westminster).
