2016 Men's Tennis Players of the Week

April 18 - Blake Gocey, Greenville College
Blake Gocey is this week's SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after going 3-1 on the week with two singles wins. Gocey picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at #4 singles over Westminster. Gocey added a 6-1, 6-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan, again at #4 singles. He also notched a win at #3 doubles against Illinois Wesleyan, winning 9-7.

April 11 - Julian Kitchingman, Principia College
Julian Kitchingman is the SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after picking up four wins last week. He notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at #2 singles over Fontbonne and followed with a win in a 6-4, 7-5 battle against Westminster. Kitchingman added two wins at #2 doubles, with Aaron Switzer, winning 8-5 and 8-0.

April 4 - Joey Sander, Principia College
Joey Sander, a senior from Camarillo, Calif. recorded four wins on the week for the Panthers in earning SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors. Sander picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Greenville and then added a 7-5, 6-0 win over Webster; playing the top singles spot in both matches. Sander also notched wins at #1 doubles, teaming with Brody Swan as the #1 team.

March 28 - Code Power, Greenville College
Code Power, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., had a busy week in picking up the SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors. Power went undefeated in four singles matches and added another three wins in doubles. Power's most impressive win of the week was a come from behind win over St. Thomas. After dropping the opening set 6-2, POwer rallied for 6-4 and 10-8 wins to take the match. Power added wins at the #3 singles position over North Central, Loras, and Buena Vista. He teamed with John Urshan to pick up three more doubles wins as the #2 team for Greenville.

March 21 - Kyle Collins, Westminster College
Kyle Collins went undefeated last week in earning SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors. Collins recorded two wins in singles play and two more victories in doubles action. Playing at #2 singles, Collins picked up a 7-6, 6-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan and a 6-1, 6-4 win over Illinois College. He continued to pile on the wins, teaming with Adam Fuchs, to win 8-5 over Nebraska Wesleyan in the #1 doubles spot and 9-7 over Illinois College. Collins' wins against Illinois College helped the Blue Jays pick up their first dual match win of the season.

March 7 - Aaron Switzer, Principia College
Aaron Switzer is the SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after picking up a thrilling win at #2 doubles. Switzer teamed with partner Julian Kitchingman to win 9-8 in a six point tiebreaker. Switzer fought off three match points to key the comeback win over Lindenwood-Belleville. In addition Switzer competed at #5 singles, falling in the individual match.

February 29 - Justin Tilford, Greenville College
Justin Tilford, a freshman from Normal, Ill., picked up SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors after picking up four wins on the week. Tilford notched a pair of wins at #5 singles and #1 doubles action. He won 6-0, 6-0 in singles against Knox and 6-2, 6-0 against St. Ambrose. He also teamed up with Nate Wieland as the top doubles team for Greenville, picking up a 8-2 win over Knox and 9-8 win over St. Ambrose.
