Sander, Kitchingman, Brannon Take Top Tennis Honors

Principia's Joey Sander and Julian Kitchingman and Greenville's Brett Brannon take home top tennis honors for the 2016 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) men's season.

Joey Sander takes home the top individual honors as the 2016 SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year. Sander, a senior from Camarillo, Calif., was the anchor for the Panthers this season; playing as the team's #1 singles player and on the #1 doubles team. Sander went undefeated in conference singles action and added five more wins at doubles. Sander served as the team captain for the Panthers and led them to their third consecutive SLIAC Tournament title. Sander was also named First Team All-Conference at both #1 singles and #1 doubles.

Julian Kitchingman, a freshman from Mount Waverley, Australia, is the 2016 SLIAC Men's Tennis Newcomer of the Year. Kitchingman stepped in during his first collegiate season and immediately made an impact for Principia at #2 singles, going undefeated. He picked up four more wins as a member of the Principia #2 doubles team. Kitchingman was also named to the All-Conference First Team at #2 singles and honorable mention at #2 doubles.

The 2016 SLIAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year goes to Brett Brannon, head coach of Greenville College. This marks the third time in his tenure as Greenville head coach Brannon has been named the conference Coach of the Year, also winning in 2006 and 2011. Brannon led Greenville to a 4-0 mark in the SLIAC this regular season and a 14-5 overall record, earning the top seed in the SLIAC Tournament and advancing to the SLIAC Tournament Championship Match.
