Webster Tennis Programs Receive ITA Academic Awards

The Principia College and Webster University men's and women's tennis programs received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team awards for the 2015-16 season. In addition 24 individual student-athletes combined from the two schools were named 2016 ITA Scholar Athletes.

The Webster men's tennis team held a 3.49 team grade-point average last season, raising their average by 0.32 points from the previous year. The women's team finished with a 3.71 grade-point average. To qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team Award a team roster must maintain a 3.2 grade-point average for the academic year.

Individually the Gorlok men were represented by Eric Bateman, Carlos Gonzalez, Juan Granizo, Matt Lang, Ian Powers, and Zach Selby. On the women's side Gorloks Monica Behrle, Kaylen Kress, Stephanie Lass, Sara Rice, Erin Roop, Jesse Steffens-Willis, Jordan Struckman, and Madison Watts were all named ITA Scholar Athletes. This marks the largest group of individuals recognized as ITA Scholar Athletes in Webster both men's and women's tennis program history.

On the men's side for Principia Douglas Dufur, Joseph Sander, and Aaron Switzer were named ITA Scholar Athletes. For the Principia women's team members named ITA Scholar Athlete were Hanne Andersen, Lena Carlson, Paige Cooley, Nathalie DeLoach, Claire Horton, Justin Roy, and Anh Vu.

For a student-athlete to receive ITA Scholar Athlete recognition they must have at least a 3.5 grade-point average, a varsity player, and been enrolled at their institution for one year.
