2019 Men's Tennis Players of the Week

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Brody Swan, Principia College
Brody Swan, a senior from Edmond, Okla., was undefeated; going 4-0 on the week with two wins at both singles and doubles play. Swan won 6-4, 6-3 at #6 singles over Greenville and blanked Westminster 6-0, 6-0. He also added wins over doubles, splitting time between Daniel Gomez and Greg Sovie as partners. He showed his versatility by picking up wins at both #1 and #3 doubles last week

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Tyler Blume, Greenville University
Tyler Blume, a freshman for Greenville, went a perfect 6-0 last week. Playing at #5 singles Blume tallied three singles wins while adding three more victories at #2 doubles. He was 36-8 in singles sets on the week, with conference wins over Fontbonne and Webster.

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week  
Riley Muren, Webster University
Riley Muren tallied three wins for Webster last week playing at both the #1 singles and #1 doubles spots for the Gorloks. Muren, a junior from O'Fallon, Ill., notched a win over rival Fontbonne in singles, winning 6-4 and 6-3. He also picked up two more wins in doubles, coming over Fontbonne and Rose-Hulman.

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Greg Sovie, Principia College
Sovie, a junior, put together a 4-0 week for the Panthers. He tallied two wins at #3 singles; defeating Carroll and Carthage. Sovie also recorded two more wins at #1 doubles with his partner Wyatt Dale. Sovie's singles win clinched the team win for Principia against Carthage. 

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Daniel Gomez, Principia College
Gomez takes home his 3rd Player of the Week award this season after rolling off four wins for the Panthers last week. Gomez, a junior from Bogota, Columbia, went 3-0 at #1 singles play and added another win in #3 doubles with partner Brody Swan. Gomez picked up singles wins over Vassar, Wooster, and Lutheran to push his season singles record to 10-1 this season.

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Justin Tilford, Greenville University
Justin Tilford, a senior at Greenville University, went 9-0 last week to push his overall record this season to 16-1. Tilford, from Normal, Ill., played at #3 singles for the Panthers and picked up five singles wins. He added four more wins at #2 doubles, with his teammate Ty Blume. 

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Daniel Gomez, Principia College
Gomez, from Bogota, Colombia, takes his second weekly award this season. The junior remained undefeated in singles play this season, picking up two more wins at the Panthers' top spot. He won 6-2, 6-0 over Grinnell and blanked Truman State 6-0, 6-0. He also added a doubles win over Truman State with his partner Brody Swan. 

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Charlie McGhee, Webster University
Charlie McGhee takes Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors after registering three wins last week for the Gorloks. McGhee, a senior from Waterloo, Ill., won both of his singles matches at the #3 spot and picked up another win at #2 doubles. He won 8-2 over Kentucky Wesleyan in singles play and followed with a 9-7 singles win over Brescia. His doubles win, with Austin Nation, was an 8-2 victory over Brescia.

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week  
Daniel Gomez, Principia College
Daniel Gomez is the first SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week award winner for the 2019 season. Gomez, a junior at Principia College, went undefeated this past week, totaling five wins. The Panthers #1 singles player picked defeated Illinois College, Missouri Baptist, and Simpson College while dropping just five sets in the three matches. He added an 8-0 win at #2 doubles over Illinois College and an 8-3 win in doubles over Missouri Baptist.
