Principia and Webster Earn ITA All-Academic Team Honors

Both the Principia College men's and women's tennis programs, as well as the women's team from Webster University, have earned All-Academic Team Honors from the International Tennis Association with an additional 17 student-athletes earning scholar-athlete recognition.

The Principia College men's team was the lone men's program from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) to earn the honor this year while the Principia and Webster women's teams were the only women's programs from the conference. Representing Principia individually as ITA scholar-athletes are: William Dale, Nat Kenworthy, Elliott Matthiesen, and Cameron Wood from the men's team and Isabelle Abbott, Della Christy, Hallie Jones, Olivia Kasprzyk, and Sarah Switzer. Earning individual honors from Webster were: Monica Behrle, Robin Bolme, Maggie Federhofer, Sara Rice, Jesse Steffens-Willis, Jordan Struckman, Adri Ventimiglia, and Madison Watts.

There were a total of 735 teams and 4,328 student-athletes across five divisions to be honored by the ITA this season. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018). In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
