Principia's Drew Clark Named Midwest Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year

New Orleans, La. - Principia College junior Drew Clark was named Track Athlete of the Year for the Midwest Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for NCAA Division III Indoor Track. He was one of eight male Track athletes to be recognized in the nation (one athlete per region). Clark has had an outstanding season this year at Principia, breaking Principia's mile record, which he set the year before, with a time of 4:10:51, and the 800m record formerly held by Mike Woodbury (1990) with a time of 1:52:34. Clark along with teammates Jacob Meier, Jeff Strickland, and Derrick Fleming broke Principia's former 4x400 relay record (1994) with a time of 3:27:75.

This weekend, Clark will run the 800m at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship in Columbus, Ohio, where he is currently ranked sixth. He will race Friday in the preliminary round at 7:45pm EST which will determine his spot in the finals on Saturday at 6:30pm EST.
