Principia's Clark, Greenville's Grant Earn All-America Honors at 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Delaware, Ohio - Principia College's Drew Clark and Greenville College's Penny Grant both earned All-America honors at the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Clark posted a time of 3:55.70 in the men's 1500-meter run to place fifth out of 12 runners in the finals. He had posted a time of 3:57.21 in the preliminary round to qualify for the finals. Fredonia State's Nick Guarino won the event with a time of 3:53.43. Clark was edged at the finish line by Calvin College's Greg Whittle, who posted a time of 3:55.67.

Grant finished fourth overall wiht a leap of 11.71 meters in her second attempt of the triple jump to garner All-America honors. Despite fouls in her first and third efforts of the preliminaries, her mark of 11.71 qualified her for the finals where she completed a final jump of 11.56 meters after fouls on the first and second attempts. Her final mark did not improve her previous distance of 11.71 meters, which held up for fourth place.

Grant also competed in the long jump and placed 13th out of 23 competitors with a distance of 5.41 meters.

Greenville's Brian White competed in the men's 200-meter dash and posted a time of 22.37 seconds to place 18th in the preliminary round. White also ran 10.87 seconds in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash to place 11th, narrowly missing the cut which was 10.81 seconds.

Other preliminary competitors included Greenville's Phillip Thomas (110-meter hurdles; 14.83 seconds), Rochaunda Harris (hammer throw; 47.97 meters) and Kristen Schutte (javelin; 39.98 meters).

After the final standings were released, the Greenville women's track & field squad placed in a tie for 45th of 83 teams with a total of five points. Principia's men's track & field placed in a tie for 51st out of 82 teams with a total of four points. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the women's title with 80 total points, while North Central College won the men's title with a 58 total points.
