SLIAC Represented in Eight Events at NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will have representatives in eight events at this week's NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships. The championships will be held May 21-23 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.

Leading the way on the men's side of competition this weekend for the SLIAC will be Greenville College's Bruce Gray. Gray qualified in three separate events; 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and as a member of the 4x100 meter relay. Gray has qualified for all three events in each of his four seasons at Greenville and looks to add to his school record of 12 NCAA All-American awards.

Gray had the second fastest time in the 100 meter dash in NCAA Division III this season with a time of 10.51. Gray was also second in qualifying in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.26. Both marks are 0.04 seconds behind the fastest time in the country this year. As a member of the Greenville 4x100 relay team Gray and his fellow Panthers Terran Daniels, Jarrid Williams, and Jonah Peoples had the fifth fastest qualifying time. Also qualifying for the Panthers was Andrew Sharp in the 800 meter dash with a time of 1:50.63.

Kyle Jenkins of Spalding University was also a multiple event qualifier, making the mark in both the shot put and discus. Jenkins' distance of 16.62 meters was 14th best this year in the shot put while his distance of 52.36 meters in the discus was 8th best. This is the third straight year Jenkins has qualified in the discus, finishing 11th overall last year.

Principia College's Conrad Bollinger will also head to the national championship after qualifying 11th in the nation in the pole vault with a height of 4.90 meters. This marks the second consecutive year Bollinger has qualified for nationals in the pole vault.

On the women's side the SLIAC will be represented by two athletes; Chelsea Gilles and Lyssa Winslow. Gilles, from Greenville College, qualified in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.13 seconds while Winslow, from Principia College, qualified in the shot put with a distance of 13.96 meters.
