2016 Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

May 2
Conrad Bollinger, Principia College (Field)
Conrad Bollinger flew to the top of the field last week in the Illinois College Twilight meet. Bollinger placed first in the pole vault with a height of 15'8.25". Bollinger's height was over a foot more than the nearest competitor and he currently ranks 11th in the nation on the qualifying list.

Shane Witters-Hicks, Principia College (Track)
Shane Witters-Hicks, a junior from Golden, Colo., is the SLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Witters-Hicks took first-place in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Illinois College Twilight meet. Witters-Hicks finished the event with a time of 9:24.72, six seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Witters-Hicks time also ranks him second in Principia program history and he currently ranks 30th in the nation on the qualifying list.

April 25
Jarrid Williams, Greenville College (Field)
This week's SLIAC Men's Field Performer of the Week is Jarrid Williams from Greenville College. Williams, a junior from Lovejoy, Ga., had a pair of top three finishes at the Rose Hulman Twilight Meet. Williams placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 45'3", his second best jump of the season. He also took third place in the long jump with a mark of 20'9.25", ranking him fourth in the conference on the spring season.

Nathan Potts, Greenville College (Track)
Nathan Potts is the SLIAC Track Performer of the Week after an impressive day at the Rose Hulman Twilight Meet. He finished 4th in the 800 meter race, setting a personal record in just his second year competing in the event. Potts also took second place in the 4x400 relay that finished in 3:21.63; nearly eight seconds better than the nearest SLIAC relay team.

April 18
Mitchell Hooten, Greenville College (Field)
This week's SLIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week is Mitchell Hooten from Greenville College. Hooten set personal bests in three events this week, claiming the season's top spot among SLIAC performers in two of the events. Hooten placed third at the Greenville Select in the discus, throwing a distance of 139'9"; more than four feet further than second place in the SLIAC performance list. He also took fourth at the event in the shot put with a distance of 48'1", ranking him atop the conference performance standings. Hooten had enough in him to also compete in the hammer throw, finishing with a mark of 133'7" which is sixth best in the SLIAC this season.

Treyvon Manning, Greenville College (Track)
Treyvon Manning was busy this weekend at the Greenville Select, competing in four different events and claiming SLIAC Track Athlete of the Week honors. Manning placed second in all four events, finishing with season highs in three events. Manning took second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.30, the fastest time in the conference this year and a personal best. He also ranks first in the conference in the high jump after going 6'6" last weekend. Manning and his teammates also set season bests in the 4x100 (42.98 seconds) and 4X400 (3:22.33).

April 11
Bret Robertson, Westminster College (Field)
Bret Robertson, a junior from California, Mo., is the SLIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Robertson had a stand out performance at the Central Methodist Invite, competing in the Javelin Throw. Robertson placed first in the event with a distance of 170'8". That mark is the longest distance by a SLIAC competitor in the javelin this season.

Brandon Price, Spalding University (Track)
Brandon Price took third place in the 10,000 meter run at the Bellarmine Invitational, competing against a tough field. Price completed the race in a time of 32:33.82, the best time this season by a SLIAC performer and setting a new school record.

April 4
Ryan Robbins, Webster University (Field)
Ryan Robbins, a sophomore from Clarksville, Mo., picked up a pair of personal records over the weekend while competing in the Wash U Invitational. Robbins set the SLIAC top qualifying mark in the javelin with a distance of 134'9", finishing 17th at the meet. He also competed in the hammer throw, finishing with a mark of 103'10" to put him in the top ten on the conference list.

Tyler Williams, Fontbonne University (Track)
Tyler Williams, a junior from Flossmoor, Ill., broke the Griffins record in the 100 meter dash while competing at the Wash U Invitational. Williams finished with a time of 11.23 seconds, taking off 0.14 seconds from his previous school record. He now ranks first in the SLIAC on the qualifying list in the 100 meter dash.

March 28
Ryan Burgess, Greenville College (Field)
Ryan Burgess, a junior from Festus, Mo., is the SLIAC Men's Field Player of the Week. Burgess headed to St. Louis, Mo. for the first weekend of the outdoor season and came back with a first place medal in the hammer throw. Burgess took first place at the Wash U Mini-Meet with a distance of 152'11", besting his previous personal best distance by six feet.

Andrew Sharp, Greenville College (Track)
Andrew Sharp is the SLIAC Men's Track Player of the Week after a strong opening weekend in the outdoor season. Sharp, a sophomore from Altamont, Ill., picked up two first place finishes at the Wash U Mini-Meet. Sharp placed first in the 400 meter dash with a personal best time of 48.95 and added another top finish in the 800 meter dash, running a 1:57.68. He also competed in the 200 meter dash, setting a new personal record.
