Greenville Men's Track and Field Captures SLIAC Team Title

RESULTS

The Greenville College men's track and field team captured the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team title at the 2016 Invitational; accumulating 255 total team points. Greenville took the top four spots in the 800 meter dash with Andrew Sharp grabbing first with a time of 48.85 seconds. John Mangold grabbed first in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:01.42. Treyvon Manning took first in the 400 meter hurdles for the Panthers and added a first place finish in the high jump. Hamid Camara added a second place finish in the 100 meter dash while teammate Jarrid Williams also took second in the 200 meter dash. Williams also took home the top spot in the long jump and the triple jump. Jacob Burrell placed second in the 5000 meter run while DaJuan Johnson was first in the shot put and Mitchell Hooten was first in the discus. Ryan Burgess picked up first place in the hammer throw while Phil Wilsman wrapped up first place finishes for Greenville by claiming the top spot in the javelin.

Webster University finished second with 141 points, as Jordan Benton picked up first place points in the 10,000 meter run. Zach Gyuricza and Damon Fowler took home the top two spots in the 110 meter hurdles. The duo finished back to back again in the 400 meter hurdles, taking second and third place this time. Jordan Kaden grabbed second in the 400 meter dash and Brandyn Robinson was third in the 200 meter dash. Brandon Brown added a third place showing in the 5000 meter run. The Greenville relay teams both took first in the 4x100 and 4x400.

Spalding University was third with 104 points. Daniel Kaiser gave the Golden Eagles first place points in the 200 meter dash and added points in the 400 meter dash with a third place showing. Nathan Mark grabbed first in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:18.43. Deion Walls finished third in the 100 meter dash while Corey Heslin added a third place finish in the 1500 meter run. Brandon Price, second place, and Nathan Mark, third place, finished back to back in the 10,000 meter run.

Fontbonne University took fourth with 40 points. Tyler Williams grabbed a first place finish in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 11.21 seconds. Craig Niethe placed third in the 110 meter hurdles and finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles. Quinn Wilson added a third place showing in the high jump for the Griffins.

Westminster College was fifth with 21 points as Logan Shoemaker added second place points in the shot put. Ryan Dyer took fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.41.

Principia College placed sixth with 18 points as Shane Witters-Hicks led Principia with a first place showing in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Zach Matthiesen placed second in the 1500 meter run.

Eureka College was seventh with 18 points. Johnathan Schertz competed in several events for the Red Devils including the 100 meter and 200 meter dash para. Cooper Elam took first place in the pole vault to give the Red Devils their only first place finish at the invitational.
