Greenville Leads SLIAC Teams At Billikin Invitational

The Greenville College men's and women's track and field teams led the way for SLIAC teams competing this weekend at the SLU Billikin Invitational. The Greenville men placed 6th out of 13 teams while the women's team was 7th out of 15 teams.

The Greenville men's team finished with 43 points on the day whlie the women totaled 25 points with Chelsea Gilles leading the charge. Gilles had two top three finishes, placing second in the 400 meter dash and third in the 200 meter dash. Andrew Sharp had a third place finish for the men in the 400 meter dash while teammates Jaylen Shelton and Treyvon Manning placed second and third in the 800 meter run. Manning also picked up a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles while the men's 4x100 meter relay team also had a third place finish at the meet.

Principia's Richard Bonsi picked up a first place finish in the men's 200 meter dash and a second place finish in the long jump while Nate Richards placed first in the 5000 meter run. Shane Witters-Hicks finished just three second behind Richards for a third place finish in the 5000 meter run. Allegra Pierce led the women's program by placing third in the 1500 meter run.

The Webster University women's team had a 9th place finish while the men placed 12th. Meghan Illig set a school record in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 16.19 while Tori Van Doren (400 meter hurdles) and Lexie Salamone (5000 meter run) each set personal records in their events. On the men's side Ryan Robbins broke the Gorlok record for javelin, with a distance of 48.22 meters, and was the top NCAA Division III finisher. Riley Flynn set a new school mark in the 3000 meter steeplechase while Damon Fowler set  a new mark in the 400 meter hurdles.

Fontbonne University finished 13th in both the final men's and final women's standings. The men's team was led by Craig Niethe, who broke his own school record in the 400 meter hurdles while also picking up points in the 110 meter hurdles. Quinn Wilson had a personal record in the javelin and set a new school record in the triple jump. The women's team was highlighted by the performance of the Griffins 4x100 meter relay team of Savannah Davis, Brianna Burnett, Taylor McGowen, and Gabi Cruts. The relay team set a new school record with a time of 53.76.
