SLIAC Adds Indoor Track and Field Championship

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the addition of an indoor championship for Track and Field. The addition of the indoor championship for both men's and women's teams brings the conference championship total to 17. The championship will be hosted by Principia College with this year's event set for Saturday, February 29. Last year a total of four women's teams and five men's teams competed in 17 scored events at the Principia Invitational, a precursor to the championship. 

"This has been a slow but steady process to bring this championship to fruition," said SLIAC Commissioner Dr. Dick Kaiser. "The SLIAC coaches and administrators have carefully watched as the growth of track and field has consistently continued to build momentum throughout the past few years within the conference. Everyone concluded that now was the right time to add the championship as the numbers of participating teams and student-athletes that are anticipated should make it an outstanding new championship."
