SLIAC Cross Country Teams Wrap Up Season

MIDWEST REGION RESULTS 

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country season came to a close on Saturday as NCAA Division III Cross Country Regionals were held across the country. Teams from the SLIAC competed in both the Great Lakes Regional and the Midwest Regional. 

Spalding University, competing in the Great Lakes Regional held in Terre Haute, Ind., finished 18th out of 36 teams in the field. The Golden Eagles, the 2015 SLIAC Team Champions, totaled 506 points with their top five runners averaging a time of 27:16. Wabash won the regional and will advance to the National Championship. 

Spalding was led by Nathan Mark's time of 26:45, placing 64th. 2015 SLIAC Individual Champion Brandon Price finished 79th with a time of 26:54. Geno Arthur, of Oberlin, won the individual title with a time of 25:13. 

Greenville College had the highest finish of any SLIAC team in the Midwest Region, finishing 26th in the team standings with 766 total points. Principia (767 points) placed 28th and Webster (836 points) finished 31st. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the regional title with 54 total points.

Principia's Zach Matthiesen was the top SLIAC individual finisher, placing 60th with a time of 25:43 while teammate Shane Witters-Hicks finished just two seconds behind. Riley Flynn led Webster with a time of 26:34, placing 113th while Jacob Burell paced Greenville with a time of 26:43, placing 125th. Running individually were members from Westminster College and Fontbonne University. Glen Tuebner, from Westminster, placed 110th with a time of 26:31 while Fontbonne's Christian Sellars finished 199th with a time of 28:31. Ian Lamere, of Wisconsin-Platteville, won the event with a time of 23:31.
