2016 Men's Cross Country Players of the Week

Oct. 17
Nate Richards, Principia College
Nate Richards claims his second SLIAC Player of the Week award after a strong showing at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Kollege Towne Sports Invite. Richards finished 29th in a field of 551 runners, competing in one of the region's top races. He finished the 8K course in a time of 25:43, averaging a 5:12 mile pace. Richards, a junior from Princeton, Mass., also took home the weekly honor back on September 26 of this fall.

Oct. 10
Zach Matthiesen, Principia College
Zach Matthiesen, a junior from Flanders, N.J., is this week's SLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week. Matthiesen finished fourth overall in the Cowbell Classic, a meet that featured several conference programs. Matthiesen was the top finisher among SLIAC performers in a field of 143 runners. He finished with a time of 25:37 and averaged a 5:09 mile over the 8K course, setting a new personal best time. This marks the second time this season that Matthiesen has earned Player of the Week honors.

Oct. 3
Jacob Burrell, Greenville College
Jacob Burrell is this week's SLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week. Burrell, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, picked up his first career top finish in helping the Panthers also pick up a first place team finish at the Millikin meet. Burrell completed the 8K course in a time of 26:02, setting a new personal best time. Burrell finished the event, which included 30 runners from four different schools, by nearly 25 seconds faster than the closest competitor.

Sept. 26
Nate Richards, Principia College
Nate Richards, a junior from Princeton, Mass., is the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 26. Richards, making his 2016 debut on an 8K course, finished in a time of 26:25 at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational. Richards finished 6th overall individually out of 292 runners. He used a late push over the final kilometer to finish in the top ten and helped the Panthers finish 10th in a field of 31 teams.

Sept. 19
Glenn Teubner, Westminster College
Glenn Teubner, from Westminster College; ran a personal best over the weekend to grab SLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week honors. Teubner, a junior from Jefferson City, Mo., finished second individually at the Southern Stampede Invitational hosted by Missouri Southern State University. Teubner was the top finisher among attached runners in a field of 153. He finished the 8K course with a time of 26:16; nearly 10 seconds faster than the closest competitor.

Sept. 12
Michael Powell, Principia College
Michael Powell from Principia College is the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week. The freshman, from Westlake Village, Calif., picked up a top ten finish in a packed field at the Les Duke Invite hosted by Grinnell College. Powell finished 10th out of 234 runners in the field, helping the Panthers to a 9th place team finish. Powell completed the rain soaked 8K course in a time of 28:16, just over one minute off the winning time.

Sept. 5
Zach Matthiesen, Principia College
Zach Matthiesen, a junior from Flanders, N.J., is this week's SLIAC Men' Cross Country Player of the Week. Matthiesen captured first place in the PC Home Opener meet this past weekend; finishing with a time of 19:04. He held a pace of 5:07 on the 6K event, beating out a field of 23 runners. Matthiesen paced himself well in the race, not making his move until just short of the 5K mark before pulling away for a 10-second win over the closest competitor.
