Halley Added To Fontbonne Coaching Staff

Fontbonne University Director of Athletics, Maria Buckel, announced the hiring of Phillip Justin Halley as the next Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach.

"I'm excited to have Coach Halley joining our team," stated Buckel. "Coach Halley has great experience as a trainer and coach but also knows what it takes to be a student-athlete and student leader. He also has a great connection in the region to aid in recruitment for future Griffins. I'm excited about the future of cross country and track and field under his leadership."

"I've been an Assistant Coach at Maryville University for the past four years," said Halley. "During my time there I've always dreamed of becoming a Head Coach. I'm ecstatic to begin this journey at Fontbonne with wonderful staff and students."

He added, "I look forward to building relationships and setting goals with our student-athletes. Fontbonne has a program with a lot of potential and I'm excited to see what this team can accomplish in the future."

While at Maryville, he supervised workouts of student-athletes, provided leadership, organization, and supervision for all aspects of a competitive NCAA cross-country program including practices, competitions, meet management, travel and recruitment.

Halley earned his USATF Level I Certification in 2016. He's also picked up certifications as a USTFCCCA Endurance Event Specialist (2017), a USTFCCCA Track and Field Technical Certification (2014) and a USTFCCCA Track and Field Program Management Certification (2015).

He's a 2014 graduate of Maryville University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and minored in Education. He's currently pursuing his Master of Sports Science and Rehabilitation at Logan University.
