Flener, French and McDowell Named 3rd Team All-Region

The Spalding University softball team's Kelci Flener, Paige French and Kelsey McDowell were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Midwest All-Region Third Team.

Flener, the 2014 SLIAC Pitcher of the Year, finished with 15 wins on the year, with 138 strikeouts, and ended the season with a 2.55 ERA. She added 17 complete games and threw four shutouts in 22 starts.

French, a first baseman, finished the season with a.435 batting average, with a .504 on base percentage and a .676 slugging percentage. On the year, French drove in 28 RBIs, on 47 hits and scored 35 runs. Frech also had the highest fielding percentage of any starter with .975, and turned a team high seven double plays.  

McDowell, a freshman shortstop, led SU with a team high eight homeruns 39 RBIs. McDowell ended the season with third highest batting average, hitting .413 with a .777 slugging percentage, and finished second on the team with 50 hits. Kelsey also had a solid season in the field, ending the year with a .904 fielding percentage and team high 67 assists.
