Leonard Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA DIII Pitcher of the Week

Fontbonne University senior pitcher Madi Leonard (Imperial, Mo.) has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Pitcher of the Week.

Leonard posted a 4-0 record last week. The Seckman High School graduate struck out a career-high 15 batters at Spalding as she threw her first career no-hitter with just one walk and one hit-by-pitch. On the week she fanned 35 over 24 innings. She earned two shutouts with a 0.88 earned run average.

Leonard is now 9-4 on the year with a 2.12 earned run average with 113 strikeouts over 76 innings and has limited opponents to a .169 batting average including five shutouts. The right hander is currently ranked ninth in NCAA Division III in strikeouts (113) and shutouts (5). She is the all-time leader at Fontbonne in appearances, strikeouts (636), wins (62), and most starts pitching (88).

Fontbonne travels to Westminster College tonight for a 5 p.m. doubleheader and hosts Blackburn College in a doubleheader Friday, April 15, at 4:30 p.m.
