Zimmerman Named Principia Head Men's Basketball Coach

Principia College is pleased to announce that Todd Zimmerman has been named the new Head Men's Basketball coach.  After Mike Bushong announced his retirement and a nationwide search began for the next Principia College Men's Basketball coach, Todd stepped in as the interim coach for the remainder of the year.  He covered the position confidently and with excitement as he recruited, scheduled and planned for next season- not knowing if the team would be his.  However, throughout the whole process, Todd continued to shine and demonstrate his abilities and showed the strengths that he would bring to this role.  The men's basketball team members showed their support for Todd as well, expressing their gratitude for all that he brought to the team as an assistant coach.  It was decided, that indeed Todd was the right fit for the Men's Basketball Team!

Athletic Director Lee Ellis comments, "I couldn't be happier to have Todd returning as the Head Men's Basketball Coach.  He has brought passion, knowledge and consistency to all the assistant coach roles that he has filled over the years and it will be exciting to watch him take over the program and build it as his own.  Todd was an exceptional player for Principia College and it is clear that he has an extreme passion for the game and he will be a great asset to the athletic department."

Todd played for Principia College from 2007-2011 where he was a standout player for the Men's Basketball Team.  He is now ranked in the top 3 for most of the statistical categories for Principia College, including the school's highest career points scored, with 1,556 points total.

Since Todd's graduation in 2011, he has returned each year to coach in some capacity for Principia College.  He has worked with women's basketball, men's basketball and men's and women's tennis as well, helping each team with whatever they needed at the time.
