2018 Softball Players of the Week

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 30

Amber Tepen, Westminster College

Tepen, a senior outfielder, was a key fixture in the Blue Jays lineup last week. Tepen hit .357 on the week with two home runs and 10 runs batted in but more impressive was the timing of her hits. Tepen played a direct role in four of her team's six wins last week with two game-winning runs batted in and crossing the plate twice for the game-winning runs. Tepen had hits in seven of the eight games on the week and had three games with three RBI. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 30

Katie Price, Westminster College

Price took the ball often for the Blue Jays last week, making six appearances as her team chased down their second straight regular season conference title. Price, a sophomore, finished the week with a 4-1 record while throwing three complete games out of her four starts. Her top outing was a complete game, one-hitter against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week she threw 30.2 innings and held a 1.60 earned-run average while striking out 22 and allowing 22 hits and only eight walks. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 24

Katie Jolliff Rosado, Greenville University

Jolliff Rosado, a senior, was nearly unstoppable at the plate last week for the Panthers. She hit .667 in six games, hitting four home runs and driving in 15 while scoring 10 runs. Jolliff Rosado had multiple hits in all six games including a pair of three-hit outings. She also drove in at least one RBI in every game with a high of four against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week she finished with a .696 on-base percentage and a 1.381 slugging percentage. She also had a home run in three straight games to start the week and added four stolen bases. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 24

Maddy Strickland, Fontbonne University

Strickland, a junior from High Ridge, Mo., was a force in the circle for Fontbonne last week; recording two wins in three appearances. Her standout performance was a no-hitter against conference rival Webster, going five innings and striking out three. She also added a scoreless two innings in relief against MacMurray and picked up a win against Spalding, working seven innings while striking out five. On the week she finished with a 0.50 earned-run average and nine strikeouts in 14 innings.

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Kaylin Rucker, Spalding University

Rucker led an explosive Golden Eagles attack last week as Spalding reached double figures in scoring in all four games on the week; all wins. Rucker, a senior from Louisville, Ky., hit .600 with 2 home runs and 12 runs batted in. She picked up multiple hits in all four games including three hits in the game one win over Principia. Rucker also had multiple RBI in all four contests with a high of four in a game one win over Berea. She finished 9-of-15 at the plate with eight runs scored and a 1.333 slugging percentage for the week.

 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Katie Price, Westminster College

Price, a sophomore, had a week to remember; throwing a no-hitter and a perfect game in three outings in the circle. Price recorded her no-hitter in a 2-0 win over Webster, working seven innings and allowing no hits while striking out three. She added another win in the second game of a doubleheader against Webster, working 5 1/3 innings and allowing no runs and five hits. Price completed a perfect game three days later in game one of a doubleheader against Blackburn. In that outing, she threw five innings and allowed no base runners while striking out eight. On the week she worked 17 1.3 innings, allowing five hits and no runs while striking out 12. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 9

Mackenzie Myers, Westminster College

Myers and the Blue Jays bats came alive in a big way last week, compiling a 4-0 conference record. Myers hit .889 in the four games while driving in nine runs and scoring eight runs. She recorded 7 hits in a doubleheader sweep of MacMurray. In game one she was 4-for-4 with five RBI. She finished the week with a 1.333 slugging percentage and 8-of-9 at the plate.

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 9

Diamond Thomas, Fontbonne University

Thomas, a junior from Waynesville, Mo., picked up two conference wins for the Griffins last week. She worked the first three innings of a five-inning contest against Principia, allowing just one hit and no runs for the win. Thomas then came on in relief to throw four scoreless innings in a come from behind win over Blackburn. In that game, Thomas allowed just one hit while striking out two. For the week she worked 7 innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out two and recording a 0.00 earned-run average.

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 2
Kerrigan Dura, Eureka College

Dura picks up her second straight weekly award after going 4-for-5 in a doubleheader sweep of Principia in the Red Devils' only games last week. Dura, a shortstop, notched two hits in both games on the day. In game one she was 2-for-2 with three RBI and a run scored. In the nightcap, Dura went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. She also drew two walks on the day and finished with a .857 on-base percentage and a 1.200 slugging percentage for the week. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 2

Kali George, Eureka College

Kali George, a senior from East Peoria, Ill., recorded her conference-leading 5th win of the year in a 12-4 victory over Principia, the second game of a doubleheader. George threw a complete game, allowing just one earned run on three hits. She struck out seven batters, her second-highest total this season, and walked just two.

Kerrigan Dura, Eureka College

Dura, a senior shortstop from Edwards, Ill., is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week after helping the Red Devils to a conference doubleheader sweep of Blackburn. Dura went 6-for-10 at the plate on the day, driving in five runs and scoring three times. She burst out for four hits in game one including a home run and drove in five runs while scoring twice. She added two more hits in game two and finished the week with a .600 batting average and a 1.100 slugging percentage. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 26
Maddy Strickland, Fontbonne University

Strickland, a junior from High Ridge, Mo., takes the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week award after helping the Griffins notch a sweep in their first conference series of the season. Strickland worked seven innings against Iowa Wesleyan, holding them to just one run on three hits while striking out five. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 19
Hannah Goett, Blackburn College

Goett, a senior from Springfield, Ill., led the Beavers to a strong start on their trip to Florida hitting .500 over eight games. Goett, a catcher, tallied a hit in all eight games during the trip including four multi-hit games. She finished the week with five home runs and nine runs batted in; going 12-of-24 at the plate with 10 runs scored. Goett completed the week with a 1.208 slugging-percentage and drew three walks while striking out just three times. She also finished with a .900 fielding percentage and threw out two base stealers. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 19
Erin Smith, Eureka College

A sophomore from Dunlap, Illinois, Smith picked up a win in her only outing last week; a 5-0 game against Robert Morris-Springfield. Smith worked all seven innings in the game, allowing no runs and just three hits while striking out five. She is currently 3-0 on the season with a 0.27 earned-run average.

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 12
Brienna Sheperd, Webster University

Sheperd, a junior from Central Point, Ore., led the Gorlok offense by hitting .474 with a home run and five runs batted in last week during six games. Sheperd had four multi-hit games, finishing the week 9-of-19 at the plate. She closed out the week with three hits against Eastern Connecticut State, two of which were doubles. Sheperd also drew three walks without striking out and finished with a .545 on-base percentage on the week. Playing third base, she also registered 19 assists and three putouts while holding a .917 fielding percentage.

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 12
Kaitlyn Johnson, Webster University

The sophomore from East Alton, Illinois worked 16 2/3 innings over four appearances last week for Webster, recording one win. She concluded the week with a 2.52 earned-run average, striking out four and walking just three. Johnson's win came in a 5-4 victory over Thiel in which she threw 7 2/3 innings, striking out three in the process. She made relief appearances in her next two games; working 1 2/3 against Alfred and two more innings against Kean. Johnson closed out her week with a no-decision against Arcadia, throwing 5 1/3 innings while allowing no earned runs and just five hits.

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 5
Katie Price, Westminster College

Price, a sophomore, had three hits in a doubleheader against Wisconsin-Platteville. Price went 1-for-2 with one RBI in the opening game. She helped the Blue Jays to a 10-2 win in game two, going 2-for-3 at the plate with four runs batted in. On the week she hit .600 with a .714 on-base percentage. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 5
Morgan Mansur, Webster University

Mansur made two starts for the Gorloks last week including picking up the victory in their 5-0 win over #15 ranked Washington University-St. Louis. Mansur, from Decatur, Ill., worked a total of 13 innings on the week, holding a 0.54 earned-run average while striking out three and allowing just one earned run. In her win against WashU Mansur picked up the complete game shutout while allowing just five hits.
