2019 Softball Players of the Week

Softball Hitter of the Week
Ally Klein, Spalding University
Klein had a busy week with Spalding, playing in ten games. She hit .371 on the week with five RBI and 13 runs scored. The sophomore infielder from Louisville, Ky. had six multiple hit games and added eight stolen bases. Her top performance was a 3-for-4 performance in game one of a doubleheader against Westminster.

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Diamond Thomas, Fontbonne University
Thomas concluded the Griffins season with an outing against Missouri Baptist. She worked five innings of game two of a doubleheader and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three. 

SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Taylor Jackson, Webster University
Jackson batted .600 while hitting two home runs and driving in seven over four games for the Gorloks. She had a pair of multiple hit games including a three-hit outing against Principia. In addition, Jackson drove in five in game one of a doubleheader against MacMurray. She finished with a 1.600 slugging percentage and .714 on-base percentage on the week, crossing the plate five times.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Breelyn Craig, Webster University
Craig notched a pair of wins in the circle for Webster, working 12 innings and tallying 15 strikeouts. She finished with a 0.58 earned-run average over her two starts and allowed just six hits total on the week. 

SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week
Mikala Guthrie, Westminster College
Mikala Guthrie was nearly unstoppable at the plate for Westminster last week, finishing 9-for-13 at the plate in a pair of doubleheader sweeps. Guthrie hit .692 on the week with one home run and six RBI. She had a hit in all four games, finishing with three multi-hit games including a pair of three-hit games. She also drove in at least one run in all four games and finished the week with a .714 on-base percentage.

SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Madison Ingram, Westminster College
Ingram, a junior, takes the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. She recorded a pair of wins for the Blue Jays, working a total of 11 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out 12. Ingram notched a complete game five-inning win over MacMurray, allowing one hit while striking out four. She followed with six innings of one-hit ball against Blackburn, striking out eight. 

SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week 
Morgan Ledbetter, Eureka College
Ledbetter, a junior from Hanna City, Ill., is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week after hitting .500 with four home runs and 12 runs batted in over six games for the Red Devils last week. She had four multi-hit games including a four-hit outing in game one of a doubleheader against Fontbonne. She also had three multiple-RBI games with a high of five in a win over Rose-Hulman. On the week she totaled 11 hits and six runs scored while finishing with a 1.091 slugging percentage.

SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Erin Smith, Eureka College
Smith, a junior from Dunlap, Ill., went 2-1 in the circle last week for Eureka with a 3.65 earned-run average. She worked 23 innings while striking out 13. All three of her starts were complete games with two going extra innings. Her best outing was a win over Rose-Hulman in which she held the opponent to three hits over seven innings while striking out four and allowing just one earned run.

SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week
Madison Washington, Westminster College
Washington recorded six hits in three games last week for the Blue Jays, finishing with a .750 batting average for the week. She was 3-for-3 against Principia, driving in two and adding one stolen base. Washington followed with two more hits in game one of a doubleheader against Webster, driving in four and added another hit in game two. She finished with a .700 on-base percentage and .875 slugging percentage for the week.

Caitie Opp, Greenville University
Caitie Opp is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week after notching a win over Fontbonne last week. Opp, a senior from Pinckneyville, Ill., worked a complete game shut over the Griffins. She went 7 innings, allowing just five hits while striking out three.

SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week
Maddy Strickland, Fontbonne University
Maddy Strickland earns Softball Hitter of the Week honors after going 11-for-15 at the plate for the Griffins in four games last week. Strickland had 3 three-hit games with an additional two-hit game. She finished the week with a .733 batting average and a 1.067 slugging percentage. Strickland also finished with 4 runs scored while driving in 6 and added 1 stolen base. 

SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Olivia Carter, Spalding University
Carter, a sophomore from Springfield, Ill., recorded a pair of wins in the circle for the Golden Eagles last week in picking up weekly honors. Carter worked 7 full innings in a win over Hanover, allowing no runs and six hits while striking out 5. She followed with another shutout win, this time of Rose-Hulman, in which she held the opponent to just one hit while recording 2 strikeouts. On the week she threw 12 scoreless innings, allowing just 7 hits while striking out seven.

SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week
Lauren Daugherty, Principia College
Lauren Daugherty, a catcher, hit .650 with 9 RBI and 4 runs scored in helping the Panthers to three wins last week. Daugherty tallied four multi-hit games including a four-hit outing against Haskell. She also drove in multiple runs in four of her six games with a high of three in a win over Harris-Stowe. Daugherty finished 13-for-20 at the plate with a slugging percentage of .800 and a .682 on-base percentage. She also added one stolen base and did not strike out in her six games while drawing two walks.

SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Morgan Christner, Iowa Wesleyan University
Morgan Christner is the SLIAC Pitcher of the Week after notching two wins for the Tigers last week. Christner, a junior from New London, Iowa, started five games for Iowa Wesleyan, throwing 24 innings and finishing with a 2.63 earned-run average. Christner totaled 36 strikeouts in her five appearances with a high of 12 in a complete game shutout win over Immaculata. 

SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week
Abby Booker, Spalding University
Booker, a sophomore infielder at Spalding University, is the Softball Hitter of the Week. Booker helped the Golden Eagles open their 2019 season with a pair of wins. She recorded a hit while scoring a run, in the team's season-opening 7-6 win over Medaille. She followed with a 2-for-2 performance against SUNY Poly, driving in the tying and go-ahead runs for Spalding in a 7-2 win.

Chloe Skorija, Spalding University
Skorija claims the Pitcher of the Week award after notching a win in her collegiate pitching debut, a 7-2 win over SUNY Poly. Skorija, a freshman from Lake in the Hill, Ill., worked 7 innings and allowed one earned run with five hits while striking out two.

SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week
Emelia Modglin, Fontbonne University
Modglin, a senior from Waterloo, Ill., went 3-for-6 in a doubleheader against Maryville in the Griffins season-opening series last week. She had one hit in game one and followed with two hits in game two of the series. All three hits were singles. As a catcher, she also threw out two runners attempting to steal and finished with a 1.000 fielding percentage. 

SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Diamond Thomas, Fontbonne University
Diamond Thomas is the inaugural SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the 2019 season. Thomas, a senior from Waynesville, Mo., made her debut against Maryville last week, working six innings and allowing just one run. She worked her way through the start by allowing eight hits and one walk.
