2020 Softball Players of the Week

Adrianna Zeman, Eureka College

Zeman, a junior from LaSalle, Illinois, led the Red Devils to five wins last week; hitting .522 while driving in 7 and scoring 8 times. She had a hit in six of seven games on the week, with four multi-hit games. Her best performance was a 4-for-5 game against Dean in which she scored 4 times and drove in 4 runs. On the week she finished 12-of-23 at the plate, with a .577 on-base percentage.

Erin Smith, Eureka College

Smith, from Dunlap, Illinois, claims the Pitcher of the Week after recording a 0.76 earned-run average in four appearances for the Red Devils. Smith worked 18 1/3 innings in the circle, allowing just two earned runs while picking up one win and one save. Smith struck out 8 batters on the week, walking just one. Her win came against Lycoming, going 6 innings and allowing no runs on 7 hits with 3 strikeouts.

Chloe Johnson, Webster University

Johnson rolled off a .538 batting average last week for the Gorloks, claiming hitter of the week honors. The junior tallied a pair of three-hit games on the week while totaling 8 runs batted in during her four games. Johnson was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 4 RBI against Eastern to start her week. Four of her seven hits on the week were doubles as she finished with a .846 slugging percentage. 

Morgan Christner, Iowa Wesleyan University

Last year's SLIAC Pitcher of the Year opened her season with a dominating performance in her season opener last week. The senior pitcher worked 7 scoreless innings in picking up the win for the Tigers. She limited Medaille to just three hits in the win, walking two, while striking out 12. 

Hannah Miener, Fontbonne University

Miener picks up her second straight award after hitting .400 on the week while scoring one run and stealing one base. Miener went 2-for-3 in game two of a doubleheader against Carroll, scoring one run and stealing one base. One of her two hits went for a double and she recorded 16 putouts on defense.

Abby Richmond, Fontbonne University

Richmond, a sophomore from Ballwin, Mo., worked 2 1/3 scoreless innings against Carroll to take weekly honors. Richmond came out of the bullpen in the game and allowed no runners to reach base in her appearance. 

Hannah Miener, Fontbonne University

Miener, a junior from Highland, Ill., hit .313 in four games for the Griffins last week, helping her team to a pair of wins. The infielder was 5-for-16 at the plate and finished with 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in while scoring four runs. Miener exploded for three hits in a win over Defiance, adding a home run and 4 RBI. The next day she again drove in four with a home run in the Griffins second win over Defiance. On the week Miener slugged .813 with four of her five hits going for extra bases.

Arianna Arias, Webster University

Arias, a sophomore from Pomona, Calif., picked up a complete-game shutout win over Centre. She limited her opponent to just 3 hits while working 5 innings, striking out one and walking none.
