2010-11 Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Feb 14-20
Caty Eeten (Eureka)
Eureka College's Caty Eeten, a freshman from Eureka, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 14-20.

Eeten, a 5-8 guard, averaged 25.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in two games played last week, while also going 12-for-14 (.857) from the free throw line. She scored 36 points on 13-of-24 (.542) shooting from the field and 9-of-10 (.900) from the charity stripe in a 71-66 overtime loss against Blackburn College. Her 36 points were a career-high and were the most by a SLIAC player in any game this season. Eeten finished with a double-double against Blackburn by grabbing 11 rebounds and also added three assists, two blocks and one steal.

Eeten recorded 14 points, four assists, two rebounds and one block in an 85-57 loss to Westminster College (Mo.). She went 3-of-4 (.750) from the line and shot 5-of-12 (.417) from the field, including 1-of-1 (1.000) from three-point range.

Feb 7-13
Sierra Shipley (Blackburn)
Blackburn College's Sierra Shipley, a senior from Waukegan, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 7-13. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Shipley, a 5-9 forward, tallied 21 points on 8-of-16 (.500) shooting from the field and 3-of-6 (.500) from behind the arc to help lead the Beavers to a 59-45 victory versus Webster University. She also added five rebounds, four steals, two assists and one block in the win. Shipley scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds as Blackburn lost 81-63 to Westminster College (Mo.). She shot 6-of-8 (.750) from the free throw line versus the Blue Jays, while also tallying two assists, one steal and one block.

Lindsay Sydness (Principia)

Principia College's Lindsay Sydness, a junior from Wellesley Hills, Mass., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 31-February 6.

Sydness, a 6-1 center, tallied 33 points on 13-of-17 (.765) shooting from the field to lead the Panthers in a hard-fought battle on the road at Blackburn. She added six rebounds, two assists, five blocks and one steal, while also shooting 7-of-8 (.875) from the charity stripe as Principia lost 65-61.

Sierra Shipley (Blackburn)
Blackburn College's Sierra Shipley, a senior from Waukegan, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 24-30.

Shipley, a 5-9 forward, averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in two games last week. She had 12 points, four steals and three rebounds in a 55-39 win over MacMurray College. Shipley also recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in a 73-60 victory against Greenville College. It was her defensive performance that really stood out against the Panthers though, as she held Greenville's leading scorer to 0-of-12 shooting from the field.

Beth Jamison (Spalding)
Spalding University's Beth Jamison, a senior from Taylorsville, Ky. (Spencer Co.), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 17-23. This marks the second time this season that she has received the honor.

Jamison, a 5-9 forward, averaged a double-double with 21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in two games last played last week. She had 25 points on 10-of-14 (.714) shooting from the field and added eight rebounds, two assists and one steal in only 25 minutes on the court in a 61-47 win versus Principia College.

Jamison recorded a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds in a 74-58 victory over Fontbonne University. She also had five steals and three assists versus the Griffins and shot 6-of-8 (.750) from the charity stripe.

Jan 10-16
Sara Hamilton (Eureka)
Eureka College's Sara Hamilton, a junior from Washington, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 10-16. This marks the second time this season that she has received the honor.

Hamilton, a 5-8 guard, helped the Red Devils end a four-game losing streak with her game-high 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists in a 75-57 victory over MacMurray College. She shot 7-of-11 (.636) from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 (1.000) from the free throw line, while also adding two steals in the win. Hamilton also had nine points, five rebounds, three steals and one assist in an 82-75 loss on the road at Spalding University.

Rachel Backes (Westminster (Mo.))
Westminster College's Rachel Backes, a junior from Tipton, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 3-9.

Backes, a 5-4 point guard, averaged 14.0 points, 6.3 assists and 3.0 steals in three Blue Jay wins last week. She had 19 points on 7-of-11 (.636) shooting from the field, 2-of-2 (1.000) from behind the arc and 3-of-3 (1.000) from the free throw line in an 83-65 win versus MacMurray College. She also added four assists, two rebounds and two steals in the win.

Backes was one assist shy of a double-double in Westminster's 77-58 victory against Blackburn College. She finished with 12 points, nine assists, five rebounds and three steals. Backes ended the week with 11 points, six assists and four steals as the Blue Jays edged Eureka College 79-72.

Katy Meyer (Webster)
Webster University's Katy Meyer, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Parkway Central), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 20-January 2.

Meyer, a 5-10 guard/forward, averaged 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games played over the holiday break. She also shot 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the field and was 8-of 12 (.667) from three-point range.

Meyer had 12 points and seven rebounds in a 55-47 victory versus Whittier College. She then posted 22 points and shot 6-of-9 (.667) from behind the arc to help lead the Gorloks to a 70-46 win over Pomona-Pitzer. Meyer also had four rebounds and three blocks in the win.

Dec 13-19
Sara Hamilton (Eureka)
Eureka College's Sara Hamilton, a junior from Washington, Ill. (Washington), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 13-19.

Hamilton, a 5-8 guard, averaged 12.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two games played last week. She scored 11 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out five assists and tallied three steals in an 88-56 win versus Robert Morris-Springfield. Hamilton then recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in an 87-70 loss to University of Illinois-Springfield. She also added four assists and two steals in that game.

Sarah Corbitt (Principia)
Principia College's Sarah Corbitt, a sophomore from Ballwin, Mo. (Principia Upper), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 6-12. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Corbitt, a 5-6 guard, averaged 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games played last week. She recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a 78-67 loss at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. Corbitt added 28 points on 7-of-12 (.583) shooting from the field, 3-of-5 (.600) from behind the arc and 11-of-15 (.733) from the charity stripe in a 72-64 win at Stephens College. She also had seven steals, four assists and four rebounds in the win.

Liz Klaffenbach (Westminster (Mo.))
Westminster College's Liz Klaffenbach, a junior from Battle Ground, Wash. (Prairie), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 29-December 5.

Klaffenbach, a 6-1 post player, averaged 17 points and seven rebounds in two Westminster wins last week. She recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 76-68 victory over Fontbonne University. Klaffenbach shot 7-of-10 (.700) from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 (1.000) from the charity stripe in the win. She added 17 points and four rebounds, while shooting 11-of-12 (.917) in a 79-64 win versus Spalding University.

Nov 22-28
Sarah Corbitt (Principia)
Principia College's Sarah Corbitt, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo. (Principia Upper), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 22-28.

Corbitt, a 5-8 guard, tallied 25 points on 10-of-17 (.588) shooting from the field in a 93-47 victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy. She shot .600 (3-of-5) from the field and was also 2-of-3 (.667) from the charity stripe. Corbitt also recorded five steals, four assists and one block in the win.

Nov 15-21
Beth Jamison (Spalding)
Spalding University's Beth Jamison, a senior from Taylorsville, Ky. (Spencer Co.), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 15-21.

Jamison, a 5-9 forward, averaged a double-double with 19.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while also being named Most Valuable Player at the Mt. St. Joseph Classic. She recorded 14 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and three assists in a 63-54 opening season victory over Oberlin College. Jamison shot 4-of-8 (.500) from the field, including 1-of-1 (1.000) from three-point range, and was a perfect 5-of-5 (1.000) from the charity stripe for the game.

Jamison tallied 24 points on 6-of-14 (.428) shooting from the field, 3-of-5 (.600) from behind the arc and 9-of-13 (.692) from the free throw line to lead the Golden Eagles to a 73-55 win versus St Mary-of-the-Woods. She also added nine rebounds, three steals and one assist in the win.
