SLIAC Announces 2011 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams and Award Winners

St. Louis, Mo. – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the 2011 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams and award winners.

Westminster College's Rachel Backes was named Player of the Year, while Eureka College's Caty Eeten was tabbed as Newcomer of the Year. Backes, a junior guard, helped lead the Blue Jays to a perfect 16-0 record in conference play while averaging 12.7 points, 5.3 assists, 3.0 steals and a .491 three-point field goal percentage in conference play. Eeten, a freshman guard, led the SLIAC in scoring with an average of 19.0 points per game (including conference games only).

Westminster College head coach Tracey Braden was selected as Coach of the Year for the second time in her four years with the Blue Jays. Braden led her squad to their first undefeated season in conference play at 16-0 and their first regular season Conference Championship.

Greenville College received the Sportsmanship Award for the fourth time since the award's inception in 2005-06.
