Spalding's Harrod Sets All-Time Scoring Mark, Rewrites Record Book

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior forward Kelly Harrod became Spalding University women's basketball's all-time leading scorer in a narrow 65-61 loss at Fontbonne University on January 26. Harrod, a 5'9" senior forward from Bullitt East High School in Mount Washington, Kentucky, now has 1,316 career points, surpassing the previous record of 1,306 points set by Danielle Burden from 1992-96.

In addition to the new scoring mark, Harrod has also erased several other school records this season. She is now holds career records for Most Free Throws Made (379), Most Free Throws Attempted (602) and Most Field Goals Made (434).

Coach Charlie Just is not surprised by the success that Harrod has enjoyed at Spalding, saying, "Kelly has been an absolute pleasure to coach from the time that she arrived on campus. She works hard every single day, is always positive and is one of the toughest and most competitive players that I have coached. It's no accident that she has had this type of career—she's worked for it."
