Eureka Names Thompson Interim Women's Basketball Head Coach

Eureka College President J. David Arnold has appointed EC Director of Athletics Steve Thompson interim Eureka women's basketball head coach, according to an announcement Monday. Thompson, who has appeared in four NCAA Division III Tournaments as a student-athlete and assistant coach, will be the 11th head coach in program history and begin his responsibilities immediately.

Westminster's Lutz Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Westminster senior Leigh Ann Lutz was announced as one of 29 winter sport women student-athletes to be awarded the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The NCAA awards 87 women student-athletes annually who excel academically and athletically.
Eureka's Jones Resigns

Eureka College women's basketball head coach Victoria Jones has resigned, according to an announcement from EC Director of Athletics Steve Thompson, Thursday morning. Jones, who cited professional opportunities for her resignation, went 17-9 overall and 13-5 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition in her only season as head coach of the Red Devils.

Lady Eagles Fall to Rhodes in NCAA First Round

The Lady Eagles put up a good effort but lost their first NCAA tournament appearance to Rhodes College. The Lynx of Rhodes College defeated Spalding 83-59 Friday night, in Memphis, Tenn., as they host the 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The #1 Iowa Wesleyan women's basketball team was upset by #8 Concordia-Alabama in the first round of the USCAA National Tournament today. The Tigers got off to a slow start which proved too much to overcome as they fell 71-56.

Iowa Wesleyan's Vietinghoff Named Player of the Year

SLIAC newcomer Iowa Wesleyan made a good impression in their first year as they captured the 2013-14 regular season title and the Player of the Year award as Tiger Karla Vietinghoff took home top individual honors. Spalding's Charlie Just was named the Coach of the Year while Rachel Perea, from Principia College, was named Newcomer of the Year. Westminster College received the conference's Sportsmanship Award.

For the second consecutive season it will be the same four schools battling it out in the postseason for the right to be called SLIAC Tournament Champions. The field includes Eureka College, Spalding University, Webster University and Westminster College and this year's tournament takes place Friday and Saturday in Louisville, Ky.
