2014-15 Women's Basketball Players of the Week

FEB. 23 - JESSICA GUY, SPALDING UNIVERSITY
Guy, a senior from Louisville, Ky., helped Spalding wrap up the 2014-15 SLIAC regular season title with a pair of conference wins last week. Guy scored 19 points in a win over Webster, reaching the 1,000 point mark for her career. She followed with a game high 26 points and 16 rebounds in an overtime win over Westminster. In that contest Guy converted a three-point play with 41-seconds left in regulation to even the score and send the game into extra time. On the week Guy averaged 22.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game while shooting 61.3 percent from the floor.

 FEB. 16 - JESSICA GUY, SPALDING UNIVERSITY
Guy, a senior forward from Louisville, Ky., guided the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins last week, helping her team maintain their spot atop the SLIAC standings. Guy scored a season high 27 points in her team's win over St. Mary of the Woods. Guy was 11-of-15 from the field, adding five rebounds and four steals, in just 27 minutes of action. Guy followed with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four steals in just 22 minutes in a win over Principia. On the week Guy shot 75-percent from the field and averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game.

FEB. 9 - EMILY CAMDEN, EUREKA COLLEGE
Camden, a junior from Green Valley, Ill., led her team in scoring in two conference wins last week including matching a school record for three's in a game. Camden started the week with 21 points in her team's win over MacMurray, knocking down five three pointers. Against Greenville Camden netted 31 points on 8-of-15 shooting with eight three pointers, tying the school record for three's in a game. On the week Camden averaged 26.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 55.2 percent from the field including 54.2 percent from behind the arc.

FEB. 2 - RACHEL WILLIAMS, IOWA WESLEYAN COLLEGE
Rachel Williams, a junior from Phoenix, Ariz., helped the Tigers close the gap against conference leading Spalding when she led her team to an upset win over Spalding, handing the Golden Eagles their first conference loss of the season. Williams led all scorers in the game with 24 points, going 7-of-8 from the field, and added five assists and three steals. She followed with 16 points, eight assists, and six rebounds in a win over Blackburn two days later. On the week Williams averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game while shooting 77.8 percent from the field.

JAN. 26 - KELSEY SHOEMAKE, EUREKA COLLEGE
Shoemake, a senior forward from Groveland, Ill., earned Player of the Week honors after helping the Red Devils extend their winning streak to four games with a pair of wins last week. Shoemake was a force in her team's win over MacMurray, recording 28 points, on 10-of-16 shooting, with 20 rebounds and three steals. That game was memorable for other reasons as Shoemake became the 15th player in school history to reach the 1,000 point mark for her career. She followed with 19 points and 17 rebounds in a win over Fontbonne. On the week Shoemake averaged 23.5 points and 18.5 rebounds while shooting 53-percent from the field and going 13-of-14 from the free-throw line.

JAN. 19 - KAYLA STYLES, SPALDING UNIVERSITY
Styles, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., led the Golden Eagles to a pair of conference wins last week as her team extended their winning streak to seven games and remain undefeated in conference play. Styles netted 17 points with nine rebounds in a win over Webster. She followed that performance with her third 20 point game of the season, finishing with 20 points and 12 rebounds against Westminster. On the week Styles averaged 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the field.

JAN. 12 - JESSICA GUY, SPALDING UNIVERSITY
Guy, a senior from Louisville, Ky., helped her team take first-place in the standings by going 3-0 this week. Guy started the week with 19 points and 23 rebounds in a win over Fontbonne. She then netted 15 points while grabbing 18 rebounds in a win over Blackburn before closing out the week with seven points, six rebounds, and four assists in limited action against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week Guy averaged 13.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. She added five blocked shots and five steals in her three outings while shooting 54.5 percent from the field.

JAN. 5 - KELSEY SHOEMAKE, EUREKA COLLEGE
Kelsey Shoemake, a senior forward from Groveland, Ill., is the SLIAC Player of the Week after recording a pair of double-doubles and holding her own against Division I for Western Illinois. Shoemake was limited to just six points against Western Illinois but stepped up the rest of her game grabbing 10 rebounds and adding four blocked shots. Shoemake netted 33 points with 14 rebounds against North Central and returned to conference action with a 21 point, 18 rebound game in a win over Webster. On the week Shoemake averaged 20.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game.

DEC. 22 - BRIANA RAE, BLACKBURN COLLEGE
Rae, a senior from Staunton, Ill., continued her recent torrid pace. Rae accounted for over half of her team's points last week, averaging 30.0 points in three outings. Rae also averaged 15.7 rebounds per game and shot 69.1 percent from the field. Rae had a high of 31 points against North Park, going 12-of-13 from the field. She added 30 points against Transylvania, going 12-of-15 from the field and closed out the week with 29 points and 20 rebounds against Bridgewater. Rae has recorded nine consecutive double-doubles on the season and picked up her second consecutive SLIAC Player of the Week award.

DEC. 15 - BRIANA RAE, BLACKBURN COLLEGE
Rae, a senior forward from Staunton, Ill., powered her way to a sixth consecutive double-double while etching her name into the Blackburn record books . Rae scored 25 points while grabbing 13 rebounds in a conference game against Westminster. In the game Rae topped 1,000 points for her career, reaching the milestone by knocking down a free-throw late in the game. On the week Rae shot 47-percent from the field and went 11-of-14 from the free-throw line while adding two assists and one blocked shot.

DEC. 8 - WHITNEY GODDEN, IOWA WESLEYAN COLLEGE
Godden, a senior from Mattoon, Ill., sparked the Tigers to a pair of conference wins on the week. Against Eureka Godden netted 22 points while adding four assists and four steals. She followed that with a record setting performance against Blackburn, finishing with 28 points including eight three-pointers; setting a new program record for three's in a game. On the week Godden averaged 25.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field including 65-percent from three-point range.

DEC. 1 - EMMIE HARING, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY
Haring, a sophomore guard from Ballwin, Mo., helped the Griffins to a 93-88 win over Knox. Haring was in the giving mood, finishing the game with 12 assists; tying the program record for assists in a game. Haring accounted for 34 of the Griffins points as she added 10 points herself on 4-of-7 shooting while also grabbing six rebounds and adding three steals.

NOV. 24 - CHELSEY GIBSON, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY
Gibson, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., carried her team to their first win of the year in a 98-87 contest against St. Mary of the Woods. Gibson poured in 34 points, on 14-of-21 shooting, while grabbing 15 rebounds. Her 34 points are the fourth most in program history while the 14 field goals made are tied for most in program history. Earlier in the week Gibson netted 17 points with eight rebounds and two steals. On the week she averaged 25.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 65.6 percent from the field.

NOV. 17- KELSEY SHOEMAKE, EUREKA COLLEGE
Shoemake, a senior from Groveland, Ill., opened the season with a bang; scoring 34 points in her team's come from behind win over Knox. Shoemake scored 19 of her 34 points in the second-half as the Red Devils came from behind for a 94-92 win. Shoemake was 15-of-23 from the field including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She added 15 rebounds, including five offensive rebounds, and one steal and one block.
