The women’s basketball team defeated Westminster 66-63 on Saturday night to win the 2016 SLIAC tournament and advance to the NCAA national tournament for the first time.

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 9-0 in the early going and held a 21-13 advantage after the first period.  Westminster came back in the second quarter and took a 32-31 lead over Greenville at halftime.

The Lady Panthers regained the advantage 49-47 after three periods and eventually fell behind late in the fourth quarter, but a bucket by Kelly Lenz in the final minute gave Greenville the lead, and two free throws by Jamie Schollenbruch with 3.7 seconds remaining sealed the win.

Coley Baker had an explosive game as she hit a late three-pointer to tie the score at 60 en route to piling up 13 points, seven blocked shots, three assists, and four rebounds.

SLIAC tourney MVP Missy Deal posted 10 points and five rebounds in the win, and all-tournament selection Taylor Paulin added 11 points.
