Eureka Draws Defending Champion In Opening Round

The Eureka College women's basketball team will open its first NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 3 when the Red Devils visit defending national champion and #2/4 Thomas More at Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Ky. The game time is set for 6 p.m. CST.

The winners of the two contests will meet Saturday, March 4 in Crestview Hills. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites March 10-11. Winners of the four sectional sites will advance to the Final Four and championship game March 17-18.

All games, except Final Four games, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The Final Four will be conducted at Van Noord Arena on the campus of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Red Devils will play in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history after winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title, earning an 82-74 victory over Greenville in Saturday's championship game.

The Saints are 27-0 this season and swept the Presidents' Athletics Conference regular-season and tournament championships. TMC is ranked second nationally in the WBCA NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches' Poll and fourth nationally by D3hoops.com.

The winner of Friday's game will meet the winner of Hope (Mich.) and Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. CST in Crestview Hills.

An allotment of tickets will be available for Eureka fans. Prices are $7 adults and $4 for seniors and students.
