Gorloks Fall To #2 Wartburg

The Webster University women's basketball season came to a close on Friday night with an 86-45 loss to #2 ranked Wartburg College. Webster, playing in their first national tournament game since 2011, was unable to get their offense going against the undefeated and host Knights shooting just 29-percent from the floor in the game.

Wartburg scored the first four points but Webster was able to close the score to 6-4 after baskets from Taylor Lucas and Kelsey Miller. However, the Knights followed up with the next seven points and went up 24-8 by the end of the first quarter. Webster would not be within single-digits the rest of the game managing a high of 15 points in the third quarter sandwiched between 11 points in both the second and fourth quarters. Wartburg meanwhile put up at least 20 points in all but the third quarter.

Webster was just 16-of-55 from the field and hit on just 2-of-11 three-pointers while getting outrebounded 44-26. Wartburg shot 50-percent from the field and hit 10 three-pointers to overcome 24 turnovers in the game.
