Massner Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, was released this morning. For the second straight year, Darby Massner (SR/Mediapolis, IA) received first team honors. She was one of 37 student-athletes in NCAA Division III and was one of six individuals representing District 8.

With the first team nod, she will advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First, second, and third team honorees will be announced in mid-March.

Massner had one of her best years in her final season with the Tigers. She averaged 17.3 points and 10.9 points per game and collected a total of fourteen double-doubles. Massner started all 23 games and averaged 37.8 minutes per game.  She ended the year ranked third in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in points per game, points, rebounds per game, and rebounds per game.

Darby is enrolled in Iowa Wesleyan University's Management Leadership with a focus in Strategic Leadership graduate program. She is a three-time  SLIAC All-Academic Team recipient, as well as a three-time United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Team award winner.  Massner was the first student-athlete from Iowa Wesleyan to receive the SLIAC Post Graduate scholarship. She has earned SLIAC All-Conference twice, as well as SLIAC All-Sportsmanship team recognition. She was awarded USCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2016-17 and 2015-16.  Massner sits at the top of two IW women's basketball records (career three-point field goals and three-point field goals made in a game), along with being in the top ten in two other categories (career points - 1,297 7th, career field goals made - 418 T-8th).

The Academic All-District® Teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada, and the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program recognizes individuals in four divisions of NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and College Division. Each division's honorees are separately recognized.
