2019-20 Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Addison Beussink, Webster University

Beussink, a sophomore from Jackson, Mo., picks up the final Women's Basketball Player of the Week award of the season after averaging 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two wins last week. Beussink put up 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 blocked shots against Eureka and followed with 23 points and 8 rebounds against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week she shot 65-percent from the field and added three assists and two steals.

Jaysea Morgan, Webster University

Morgan, a senior from Fisk, Missouri, claims this week's award after averaging 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 steals in two games for the Gorloks last week. Morgan finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in a win over Westminster and recorded 24 points, 3 assists, and 4 steals in a victory over Blackburn. On the week Morgan shot 55-percent from the field, going 3-of-5 from three-point range, and shooting 88-percent from the free-throw line.

Olivia Falls, Eureka College

Falls picks up her 4th weekly award this season after averaging 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 5.5 steals in two Red Devil wins last week. The sophomore had a high of 28 points in a win over MacMurray, adding 12 rebounds and 5 steals in the game. She followed with 15 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals in a win over Iowa Wesleyan. On the week Falls shot 65-percent from the field and 90-percent from the free-throw line.

Jaysea Morgan, Webster University

Morgan, a senior from Fisk, Missouri, helped the Gorloks stay in first place in the SLIAC standings with a pair of conference wins last week. Morgan was pivotal on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball; averaging 19.5 points and 5.5 steals per game on the week. She put up a career-high 25 points against Greenville, adding 7 steals, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in the game. She followed with 14 points and 4 steals against MacMurray. On the week Morgan shot 65-percent from the field and was 12-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Sophia Hathaway, Principia College

Hathaway, a senior from South Pasadena, Cali., averaged 31.0 points, 17.0 rebounds, and 5.5 blocked shots in two games last week for Principia. The forward put up 35 points and 18 rebounds with 4 blocks against Fontbonne, shooting 16-of-30 from the field. She followed with 27 points and 16 rebounds, with 7 blocked shots, in a narrow loss to Iowa Wesleyan. Hathaway is currently averaging 20.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this season.

Riley Guffey, Fontbonne University

Guffey, a junior from Newburg, Missouri, helped the Griffins to a pair of SLIAC wins last week in earning weekly honors. Guffey averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game on the week. She shot 53-percent from the field, knocking down 4-of-10 three-point shots and 6-of-8 free-throws. Guffey had 17 points off the bench including 12 in the fourth quarter in a win against Westminster. She followed with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in her team's win against Iowa Wesleyan.

Rylee Stafford, Fontbonne University

Stafford receives her 2nd weekly award this season after averaging 22.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games for the Griffins last week. She recorded 20 points, hitting on four three-pointers, against Spalding in a mid-week contest. She added 1 steal and 1 assist in that game. On Saturday she returned home to lead the Griffins to a 73-62 win over Eureka, finishing with 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting including three three-pointers. Stafford also recorded 7 rebounds and 3 steals in the game.

Olivia Falls - Eureka College

Falls opens the new year with her 3rd SLIAC Womens' Basketball Player of the Week award this season. The sophomore guard recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds while helping Eureka to a 93-58 win over MacMurray. Falls finished 7-of-9 from the field and knocked down 6-of-7 free-throw attempts. Four of her rebounds came on the offensive end and she added three assists in the game as well.

Abby Stotler, MacMurray College

Stotler, a freshman forward, helped MacMurray to a 70-63 win over Marian over the weekend to earn Player of the Week honors. The forward tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds while also starring on defense with four steals. She also dished out two assists. Stotler knocked down three field goals but was 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed five offensive rebounds.

Abbie Reece, Westminster College

Reece, a sophomore from Cape Girardeau, Mo., is the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week after a double-double effort in a conference win over Eureka. The forward scored 29 points with 12 rebounds in the road win, going 12-of-20 from the field. Reece also added 5 assists, 1 steal, and 1 blocked shot in the game. She is currently averaging 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season.

Rylee Stafford, Fontbonne University

Stafford, a junior from Jackson, Mo., led the Griffins to a pair of conference wins last week in picking up SLIAC Player of the Week honors. The guard averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.0 steals in the two games; shooting 52-percent from the field and 40-percent from three-point range. She put up 24 points while recording 5 steals in a win over MacMurray and followed with 21 points, connecting on 5 three's, with 7 rebounds and 3 steals against Blackburn. On the week she was 16-of-31 from the field with 8 three-pointers.

Olivia Falls, Eureka College

Falls picks up her second straight weekly award after putting up 21 points and 10 rebounds against Knox. Falls, a sophomore from Bloomington, Ill., went 7-of-11 from the field and added 3 assists. She had 5 offensive rebounds to go with her 5 defensive rebounds. Falls is currently averaging 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game this season.

Olivia Falls, Eureka College

Falls, a sophomore forward from Bloomington, Ill., averaged 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in two games for Eureka last week. She recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds in a win over St. Mary of the Woods. Falls finished 7-of-11 from the field in the game and added one assist and one steal. She followed that game with 12 points and 7 rebounds against Millikin. On the week Falls shot 58-percent from the field and 6 of her 20 rebounds came on the offensive end.

Nikki Matters, Principia College

In her season opener, Nikki Matters set a Principia program record for most points in a game with a 44 point outing against Rockford. Matters, a senior guard from Mt. Prospect, Ill., put up 44 points, topping the previous mark of 39, in a narrow double-overtime loss to Rockford. Matters went 10-of-25 from the floor, knocking down four three's and hitting on 20-of-23 free-throws. She also added 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the game.

Lexie Black, Blackburn College

Black is the first weekly award winner for the 2019-20 season after helping Blackburn College to their first 2-0 start to the season since 1996-97. Black, a sophomore from Belleview, Mo., averaged 17.5 points in the two wins, shooting 47-percent from the field. She scored 15 points in the Beavers season-opening win over Alverno, going 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. She also added three rebounds and two assists in the win. The next day she scored 20 points, on 6-of-11 shooting, chipping in four rebounds. On the week she averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
