2013 Women's Soccer Players of the Week
NOV. 4 - HAYLEY MACWILLIAMS (PRINCIPIA COLLEGE)
OFFENSIVE
HEIDI KOEHL (GREENVILLE COLLEGE) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) MacWilliams, a senior forward from Fullerton,
Calif., tallied a goal in each of her team's games last week.
MacWilliams scored the game winning goal against MacMurray when she
quick kicked a free kick, catching the defenders off-guard. She
followed with the only goal of the game for Principia in a 1-1 tie
against Greenville that helped her team advance to the SLIAC
Tournament.
(Defensive) Koehl, a senior goal keeper from Belleville, Ill., helped her team secure a spot into the SLIAC Tournament with a pair of ties against conference opponents last week. Koehl allowed just one goal in each game, totaling 220 minutes of action and holding a 0.82 goals-against average. Against Fontbonne Koehl recorded seven saves and followed with a six save game against Principia. For the week Koehl finished with an .867 save percentage.
OCT. 28 - GABRIELA MARTIN (PRINCIPIA COLLEGE)
OFFENSIVE
RACHEL PEREA (PRINCIPIA COLLEGE) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) Martin, a sophomore from Newburyport, Mass.,
tallied three goals in her team's two wins last week. Martin capped
off a 4-0 win over Fontbonne with a pair of goals and followed with
a one goal and one assist performance against Eureka. Martin
finished the week with three goals and one assist for seven total
points.
(Defensive) Perea, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., helped her team's defense shutdown their opponents in a pair of shutout wins. Playing at centerback Perea and the defense was able to limit Fontbonne's top three scorers to just one shot. They followed that performance by holding Eureka to just two shots in a shutout victory to end the week. This marks the second time this season Perea has won the weekly award.
OCT. 21 - KELSEY PANZAU (GREENVILLE COLLEGE)
OFFENSIVE
LINDSEY ADSHADE (WEBSTER UNIVERSITY) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) Panzau, a senior from Waterloo, Ill.,
recorded two goals and six assists in just two games last week.
Panzau played a role in all five goals of a 5-0 win over Eureka,
with one goal and four asssits. She also tallied one goal and two
assists in a win over MacMurray earlier in the week.
(Defensive) Adshade, a junior from Chicago, Ill., was instrumental in helping the Webster defense hold their opponents top attackers in check on the week. Adshade and the Gorlok defense held both their opponents top two scoring players without a shot in this week's games. She also added an assist in her team's win over Principia.
OCT. 14 - DEE DEE SLITER (SPALDING UNIVERSITY)
OFFENSIVE
ALLISON FERGUSON (WEBSTER UNIVERSITY) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) Sliter, a freshman from Louisville, Ky.,
tallied a pair of goals in helping Spalding to a 3-2 win over
Principia and handing Principia their first conference loss of the
season. Sliter gave Spalding their first lead of the game with a
goal at the 64 minute mark. Principia tied the game up minutes
later but Sliter was not done. Sliter scored her second goal of the
game just over one minute later, on a penalty kick, to give
Spalding the lead for good.
(Defensive) Ferguson, a freshman from Highland, Ill., helped Webster to a conference win over Blackburn. Ferguson and the Gorloks shut down Blackburn, which entered the game as the conference's top scoring team, limiting them to no goals and just two shots. Ferguson also added two goals of her own as she jumped up on the offensive attack from her defensive position.
OCT. 7 - EILEEN KOPPY (WESTMINSTER COLLEGE)
OFFENSIVE
ELLEN WOOLSEY (WESTMINSTER COLLEGE) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) Koppy, a sophomore forward from St. Louis,
Mo., scored two of her team's three goals in a 3-0 road win over
Blackburn last week. Koppy netted the first goal, and eventual
game-winner, at the 27 minute mark before added an insurance goal
mid-way through the second-half.
(Defensive) Woolsey, a freshman goalkeeper from Marshall, Mo., helped blank Blackburn College, who entered the game as one of the nation's top scoring teams. Woolsey stopped both shots she faced in recording the shutout and helping her team notch their first conference victory of the season. This marks the second time this season Woolsey has won the award.
SEPT. 30 -KRISTIN MONTGOMERY (WEBSTER UNIVERSITY)
OFFENSIVE
RACHEL PEREA (PRINCIPIA COLLEGE) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) Montgomery, a junior forward, tallied one
goal and two assists on the week. She played a hand in three of her
team's five goals in a 5-0 win over Eureka; finishing with one
goal, the game-winner, and two assists.
(Defensive) Perea, a freshman defender from Long Island, N.Y., helped lead Principia to a 5-0 shutout win over conference foe Westminster. Perea was the leader of a defense that allowed just six shots including only one on goal while consistantly winning head balls and breaking up midfield passes.
SEPT. 23 - ALLY NIKOLAUS (WEBSTER UNIVERSITY)
OFFENSIVE
VICKEY BENHART (EUREKA COLLEGE) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) Nikolaus, a senior midfielder, helped her team to a
pair of wins on the week by playing a role in five of her team's
goals. She notched two goals and an assist in a 5-0 win over Buena
Vista and added two assists in a 7-2 win over Coe. On the week her
two goals and three assists helped move her into 11th place on the
school's all-time lists for both career goals and total points.
(Defensive) Benhart, a sophomore goalkeeper from Crystal Lake, Ill., guided the Red Devils to a pair of wins last week. She recorded four saves in a 2-1 win over Rockford and followed with a one save shutout performance against Robert Morris-Peoria before the game was called at the 70 minute mark. On the week she finished with five saves in 160 minutes of action with an .833 save percentage.
SEPT. 16 - LATAYISAH OUSLEY (WESTMINSTER COLLEGE)
OFFENSIVE
KELSEY KAISER (SPALDING UNIVERSITY) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) Ousley, a sophomore forward, was personally
responsible for both of her team's goals in their only contest of
the week. Playing on the road Ousley gave her team an early lead
with a goal just 14-minutes into the contest. She added some
breathing room, which would be needed, when she netted her second
goal of the game at the 57-minute mark; propelling her team to a
2-1 victory over Knox.
(Defensive) Kaiser, a freshman goal keeper, was nearly unbeatable this past week holding a 0.90 goals-against average and recording 17 saves and a 94-percent save percentage. Kaiser blanked Berea 1-0 on the road, making five saves in picking up her first shutout of the season. In that game she kept Berea out of the net with a key stop on a penalty kick at the 75-minute mark to preserve the shutout and win. Kaiser had a busy day in her next outing, stopping 12 of 13 shots in a 1-0 overtime loss to Hanover.
SEPT. 9 - JESSICA MESS (WEBSTER UNIVERSITY)
OFFENSIVE
ELLEN WOOSLEY (WESTMINSTER COLLEGE) DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) Jessica Mess, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., helped
keep Webster undefeated with a two goal performance against DePauw
(Ind.). The two goals marked her first multi-goal game and extended
Webster's record to 5-0 on the year.
(Defensive) Ellen Woosley, a freshman from Marshall, Mo., played all 180-minutes in net for the Blue Jays this week, recording one shutout and 20 saves with a save percentage of 87-percent. Woosley blanked Ozarks with eight saves in a 3-0 win and followed with a 12 save performance against Illinois College. On the week she stopped 12 of 15 shots faced and had a 1.50 goals-against average.
SEPT. 3 - CAROLINE KEPPLER (MacMURRAY COLLEGE)
OFFENSIVE
JESSICA DAVIS (WEBSTER UNIVERSITY)
DEFENSIVE
(Offensive) MacMurray College's Caroline Keppler,
a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., is this week's Women's Soccer
Offensive Player of the Week. Keppler played a prominent role in
helping her team to a 1-1 record on the week as she played a role
in all three of her team's goals. Keppler assisted on MacMurray's
lone goal in their season opener and followed with a two goal
performance in a win over Finlandia.
(Defensive) Webster University's Jessica Davis, a junior from Belleville, Ill, picked up Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping her team to a pair of road wins this past weekend. Davis recorded three saves in a 1-0 shutout win over Rose-Hulman and added another save in palying a scoreless first-half in a 6-0 win over Franklin.
