Women's Soccer Finishes SLIAC With Clean Slate

Box Score Finishing the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season undefeated for a second straight season, the Webster University women's soccer team defeated Fontbonne University, 2-0, on November 1 at the Soccer Park.  The Gorloks wound up 9-0 in the SLIAC, extending their regular season winning streak to 19 in the conference.

Webster will host a first round match of the SLIAC women's soccer tournament on November 5 at the Soccer Park at 6:00 p.m. vs either Westminster College or Principia College (IL), depending on this afternoon's results.

The Gorloks struck quick as Kristin Mongtomery (SR, St. Louis, MO/Duchesne HS) scored her eighth goal of the season, just four and a half minutes into the game.  Montgomery took a beautiful cross from freshman Kayla Dye (St. Louis, MO/Windsor HS), right in front of the Fontbonne goal, and tapped it over the sprawling Griffin goalie for the score.  For Montgomery, it was her 39th goal, and gives her 100 points, for her career.

Dye made it 2-0 at 26:43, on a cross by Lauren Pratt (JR, Incarnate Word Academy).  Lindsey Adshade (SR, Chicago, IL/DeKalb HS) sent a corner kick from the left side of the goal to the far side corralled by Pratt and passed to Dye, stationed in front of the Fontbonne goal, who punched it by the Griffin goalie.  It was Dye's team-leading 10th goal of the season  Dye also leads the Gorloks with 29 points.  Dye is second in the SLIAC in points, and tied for second with the 10 goals.

Starting in goal for Webster was Jessica Davis (SR, Belleville, IL/Belleville West HS), picking up her fourth solo shutout as she improves to 7-2-2 on the season  For Davis, it was her 42nd win for the Gorloks, extending her all-time career high record for Webster.  Davis is also Webster's record holder for career shutouts with 27.  Davis' goals against average for the season is 0.67 as the team has a 0.66 GAA as a whole, with the stout play all year of the defense.

Webster outshot Fontbonne, 13-6, for the game.  Both teams had five corner kicks in the contest.

For the Gorloks, it was their eighth shutout in nine SLIAC contests, outscoring conference teams, 51-1 on the season.  Webster, who is ranked 10th in the most recent Central Region rankings, finishes the regular season at 12-4-3 overall.
