Six SLIAC Programs Honored By NSCAA

A total of six St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference soccer programs have been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their hard work in the classroom. Greenville College, Principia College, Webster University, and Westminster College all earned team academic honors with both the men's and women's programs from Greenville and Webster receiving the honor.

Greenville and Webster were two of just 222 schools across all divisions to have both their men's and women's soccer teams earn team academic honors. Greenville's men's soccer team, coached by Chris Swift, held a 3.22 grade-point average while the women's team, coached by Jeff Wardlaw, held a 3.30 mark. This marks the second consecutive year the Greenville men's team has earned the award and the first time for the women's team.

The Webster men's soccer team, coached by Mike Siener, had a 3.11 grade-point average with the Webster women's team, coached by Luigi Scire, holding a 3.50 grade-point average. This is the sixth time the Webster men's team has received the award and the 16th time for the women's program.

The Principia College women's team, coached by Jess Semnacher, finished with a grade-point average of 3.36 over the 2014-15 academic year while the women's team from Westminster College, coached by Jen Dyson, finished with a 3.31 grade-point average. This is the 17th time the Principia women's team has won the award and the second time in program history for the Westminster women's team.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 882 soccer teams (313 men, 569 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year.
