Spalding Women's Soccer Collects for Wayside Christian Mission

Spalding Women's Soccer Collects for Wayside Christian Mission

The Spalding University women's soccer team ran a collection for the Wayside Christian Mission in order to gather various types of items. The Golden Eagles donated shirts, pants, and jackets, as well as other important items as the weather becomes more and more hazardous for those in need.

When asked about what it meant for the team, senior forward Dee Dee Sliter commented, "It was great to come together as a team to help gather items to give the homeless as winter is reaching coldest months. It is always a great feeling when you can help make an impact and give back to the community."

The Wayside Christian Mission offers both emergency and day shelter for both men and women as well as permanent supportive housing. They also feature a dining hall, 91 seat chapel, child development center, educational classes and job training. There are two thrift stores located in the city of Louisville where items can be donated.

Head Coach Shilo Rayburn stated, "One thing we always want to do is instill the value of compassion in our student-athletes, and it has been great to work with Wayside, an organization that does so much for the community, to help provide items for those in need."
