Westminster Women's Soccer To Face Illinois Wesleyan In First Round

The Westminster women's soccer team drew host Illinois Wesleyan for the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Westminster Blue Jays will face off with Illinois Wesleyan (18-2-0) on Saturday, November 14, at 11:00 a.m. in Bloomington, Ill., in their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

Illinois Wesleyan is also hosting the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Pomona-Pitzer for the other first round. Those two will play at 1:30 pm. The winners of the two first round games will play each other in the second round on Sunday, November 15, at 1:00 pm. 

The Blue Jays enter the NCAA Tournament with a 10-6-2 record after winning the SLIAC Tournament in a shootout, 5-4. The Blue Jay offense is led by a young crew. Sophomore Morgan Henry leads the Blue Jays with 12 goal on the season while freshman Courtney Whitlock leads the team in points with 25. On the season she has nine assists and eight goals with four being game-winners. 

Junior keeper Ellen Woolsey has started in goal all 18 games. She holds a 1.03 goals-against average and posted 58 saves. She has 10 wins on the season with five shutouts. 

The Blue Jay's first opponent, Illinois Wesleyan, holds an 18-2-0 record heading into the NCAA Tournament. They received an at-large bid after falling in double-overtime in their conference tournament. Senior Sydney Fox leads the Illinois Wesleyan Titans in goals (12) and assists (11). 

In goal for the Titans is freshman Katie Denney. She holds an 18-2 record in goal with nine shutouts. She has posted 44 saves and holds a .38 goals-against average.
