Sanchez To Helm Westminster Women's Soccer

Associate Director of Athletics James Arnold announced that Wendy Sanchez will take over the helm of the women's soccer program.

"We are really excited about adding Coach Sanchez to our athletic staff," said Arnold. "During the interview process, we were impressed with her experiences at a variety of levels and the fact that she herself was an NCAA Division III student-athlete.  The committee and I were unanimous in believing that Coach Sanchez will be a great fit for our existing women's soccer roster and for years to come."

Sanchez most recently served as the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at State Fair Community College, where she was responsible for recruitment and retention of student-athletes. During her tenure, the team won a postseason game in the Region 16 tournament for the first time in school history, while increasing their number of wins from the season prior to her arrival.

Prior to her time at State Fair, Sanchez was an assistant coach for the varsity girls' soccer team at Canutillo High School in Canutillo, Texas. She was also a private trainer for the Chicago Edge Soccer Club in Oak Park, Illinois, from August 2015-October 2016, where she taught technical skills while analyzing players' strengths and weaknesses and tailored personalized training lessons for each athlete.

Along with coaching soccer, Sanchez plays competitively for the St. Louis Lions Women's Premiere Soccer League. She holds United States Soccer Federation E and F licenses.

Sanchez holds a bachelor's degree in natural science and nutrition from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois, where she was a member of the women's soccer team.
