SLIAC Schools Recognized By United Soccer Coaches

Five programs from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have been recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as 2017-18 Team Academic award winners. MacMurray College was the lone conference member to have both their men's and women's programs receive the award while the men's teams from Fontbonne University and Greenville University and the women's teams from Principia College and Webster University were also honored.

A total of 816 soccer teams from all divisions received the Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 academic year. Of that total, 307 were men's programs and 509 women's programs. In order to receive the award teams must hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Of the over 800 programs honored, just 211 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized. MacMurray College was one of those schools and the lone member from the SLIAC to achieve that feat. The MacMurray men's team is coached by John Mansholt while the women's team is led by Gabe Attanasio.

The Fontbonne men's team, coached by Donnie Alberty, had a team GPA of 3.21 while the Greenville men's team, coached by Chris Swift, also finished with a 3.21 GPA.

The Principia women's team, coached by Meagan Fleming, carried a 3.34 team GPA while Webster University, coached by Luigi Scire, finished with a conference-high 3.41 GPA.
