SLIAC With Four Named to Women's Soccer All-Region

Four women's soccer players from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have been named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches All-Region team. Webster University placed three players (Lilly Brauer, Melissa Kasper, and Carolyn Ries) on the team while Fontbonne University's Molly Kovarik also received recognition.

Lilly Brauer was named Second Team All-Region after being named the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year. Brauer, a junior, led a defense that allowed just 35 total shots during conference play. On the season Webster's defense allowed just 16 goals while recording 11 shutouts.

Melissa Kasper, a junior, led the league with 17 goals, 19 assists, and 52 points this past fall. She recorded a point in all nine conference games and finished with two hat tricks. Kasper was named SLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and picks up Second Team All-Region honors. Carolyn Ries, a senior, was named Third Team All-Region after recording eight goals and three assists for 19 total points. Webster has now had 30 players selected All-Region over the last 20 years of the program.

Molly Kovarik, a Festus, Mo., native, had a standout 2018 campaign for the Griffins. The forward compiled a team-high 16 goals and that ranks her second all-time for a single season. She also concluded with 36 points that placed her sixth overall. She went on to earn SLIAC All-Conference First Team honors. Kovarik is the fourth Griffin all-time to earn NSCAA All-Central Region as she joins Kelly Hobbs (2014), Paige Pfankuch (2014), and Natalie Sipole (2016).
