MacMurray Adds To Coaching Staff

Athletic Director Justin Fuhler is excited to announce the hiring of head softball coach, Alexa McClaughry, and assistant men's and women's soccer coach, Johnny Kimani. The pair both began their time at MacMurray this week.

McClaughry has spent the past two seasons as the head coach at Robert Morris-Springfield, prior to the campus's closing this spring. During her time there, McClaughry took the team to their first National Tournament since 2010.

McClaughry played at the University of Illinois-Springfield, primarily as a shortstop, where the Prairie Stars went to the conference tournament three times in her career. She is in the record books at UIS for second most assists in a single season, most sac flies in a single season, and seventh for doubles in a single season. McClaughry was also a captain during her junior and senior seasons. She also has served as an assistant coach for the McHenry County Chaos travel team.

Kimani comes to MacMurray after spending time as the head women's soccer coach at Shaker Heights High School, just outside of Cleveland. There he was responsible for many parts of the program, including scouting opponents, schedule training sessions and develop an academic plan. Kimani was also the head girls U13 and U14/15 coach for the Ohio Premier Football Club.

Kimani spent four months as the assistant technical and fitness coach for the Kenya U17 National Team, where he was able to travel and learn through the Football Kenya Federation. He also brings plenty of experience from coaching club teams and his own personal training sessions.
