The Webster University women's tennis team won its fourth straight match, and remained undefeated in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, with a 9-0 win over Greenville College (IL) at the Webster Groves Tennis Center on March 25. The Gorloks won with four freshmen taking home victories in singles play.
Freshman Monica Behrle (Atlanta, GA/East Paulding HS) won her eighth straight singles match and improved to 14-1 for the year. Behrle won in straight sets at #2. Marissa Lewis (SR, Owasso, OK/Owasso HS) won her fifth straight, at #1 singles, and is now 12-2 on the year. Lewis was named the SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week this past week.
Kaylan Kress (JR, Bartlett, IL/Bartlett HS) improved to 9-5, winning in straight sets at #3. Jesse Stephens-Willis (St. Louis, MO/Rockwood Summit HS) and Stephanie Lass (Lake Villa, IL/Lakes Community HS) continued their successful freshmen campaigns. Steffens-Willis improved to 9-6 with her fifth win in a row, a straight set win at #4, and Lass evened her season singles record at 7-7 with a straight set win at #5. Freshman Morgan Rabe (San Diego, CA/Clairemont HS) also evened her season record, at 2-2, with a tie-breaker set win at #6
Webster, 2-0 in the SLIAC and 8-4 overall, travels to Clayton, MO, to take on Fontbonne University on March 27 at Shaw Park. The Gorloks will host Blackburn College (IL) on March 31 at the WGTC. Full results for the Greenville match:
