Fontbonne Notches Eight Points In Win
Fontbonne women's tennis won their first contest of the year, defeating Blackburn College 8-1 in a non-conference matchup. Earlier this year the Griffins defeated Rend Lake Community College, but those statistics do not count according to the NCAA.
It's the first time the program has earned eight points in a game since at least the 2007-08 season. Prior year's records are not available.
Lots of first wins occurred tonight as Lauren Calicutt and Nicole Moore each won their first singles match of the season while Mediha Husejnovic won both her singles and doubles matches for the first time this year.
Andrea Wiele and Taylor Skaggs won their exhibition matchup 8-0. Jordan Sampson put up a fight, going to tie-breakers in both of her sets at No. 4-singles.
Fontbonne will next play an early matchup at Webster Tennis Center against the Gorloks on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.
