Red Devils Name Ryan Track & Field and Cross Country Head Coach

Eureka College Athletic Director Steve Thompson has announced the hire of new Head Cross Country and Track & Field coach Morgan Ryan. Ryan, a former Division III track and field student-athlete at Monmouth College, who will take over control of both the cross country and track & field teams immediately.

"We are excited to have Morgan join us at Eureka College," Thompson said. "She was a national qualifier, conference champion and a Division III All-Academic award winner and the drive she demonstrated as a student-athlete and early in her career will help her be successful at Eureka College."

Ryan graduated Cum Laude with a degree in communication studies from Monmouth in May of 2014. She was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Lambda Pi Eta Communication and Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Societies and was the Lois McGaan Prize Winner for Excellence in Communication Studies. Ryan excelled in both track and field events while with the Fighting Scots, including a 3-time Midwest Conference Women's pole vault champion (Indoor '12, Indoor '13, Outdoor '14) and 2014 outdoor champion in the MWC Women's 100-meter hurdles. In addition to her accomplishments within the Midwest Conference, Ryan was a 3-time NCAA National Qualifier (Outdoor '13, Indoor '14, Outdoor '14). Balancing her athletics and academics, Ryan was a 3-time Academic All-Conference Athlete ('12, '13, '14) and a 2014 USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team selection.

Since graduating Ryan has worked with the Metamora track program and as a substitute teacher for ROE Marshall/Woodford/Putnam counties. Her duties as an assistant coach included development and organization of practice plans for sprinters and jumpers, assistance in hosting and managing home track meets and assistance with organizing the travel schedule.

Morgan is originally from Metamora, Illinois and currently resides in her hometown.
