MacMurray's Boyer Reaches 2,000 Assist Milestone

Senior volleyball captain Alexa Boyer surpassed 2,000 assists Wednesday, Oct. 21, during the annual Set, Serve, and Rally for the Cure match against crosstown rival Illinois College.

Last season Boyer reached her first career milestone, joining the 1,000 assists club. This year the setter has a season total of 626 assists, averaging 7.45 per game. Boyer has contributed as an all-around player, reaching 60 kills, 22 service aces, and 174 digs for the 2015 season.

“I am blessed to play college volleyball,” Boyer said,” but to have this accomplishment, I can’t even explain, but it is an amazing feeling,”

Boyer is not only an all-star on the court, but she is a leader within the MacMurray College community. She is a part of the Student Nursing Association, president of MacMurray’ s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and serves on the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference SAAC.

“Lex has been one of the most dedicated kids to rebuilding this program in her last four years,” said Head Volleyball Coach Danielle Doerfler. “Our success with building and our continued milestones have been directly related to kids like Lex and their relentless dedication. Lex has been a successful example of a true student athlete, and I can’t be more proud of another great milestone in her career.”
