Westminster's Kiso Wins Outstanding Student Award

In April, Westminster student Amanda Kiso '17 (Blair Oaks High School/Wardsville, MO) was recognized for her excellence in peer education at the Meeting of the Minds Regional Prevention Conference, receiving the Outstanding Student Award for Region IV West for the BACCHUS/NASPA initiatives.

Amanda was selected as the award recipient over student nominees from 10 other states. As the award winner, she was recognized for co-founding the Blue Jay Athlete Mentor program and her work as a campus leader through peer health education.

"I like that I can make an impact on the campus through multiple different groups," says Amanda. "It means a lot to me to be able to spread my knowledge to others, hopefully positively influencing them."

Amanda has been working with peer health educators for the past 3 years. She serves as a student-athlete (women's volleyball), senior resident advisor, and student ambassador on top of her roles within the Blue Jay Athlete Mentors and Peer Health Educators.

"I am honored to work with her and thrilled that she received national recognition for all of her dedication to our campus," says Kiso's advisor Amanda Stevens. "She represents Westminster College to the fullest, showing success, significance, and service in all her endeavors. She makes our campus a better place."

Amanda is a Psychology major with minors in Biology and Public Health. She hopes to one day obtain a Ph.D. in Occupational Therapy and work with special needs children.
