2016 Volleyball Players of the Week

Oct. 31
(Offensive) Kersten McDonough, Fontbonne University
Kersten McDonough closes out her stellar career at Fontbonne as the SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. McDonough, a senior from Pacific, Mo., averaged 4.25 kills per set over four matches last week including two matches with over 20 kills. She had a season high 27 kills in a five set win over Webster, hitting .442 in the match. She followed with 22 kills in a win over Illinois College while adding three service aces. McDonough totaled 68 kills in the four matches, helping the Griffins to three wins, while hitting .264. She finished with 78.5 total points on the week, averaging 4.9 per set. This is the second time this season she has been named the Offensive Player of the Week.

(Defensive) Alli Brown, Fontbonne University
Fontbonne senior middle blocker Alli Brown is the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. Brown, from Arnold, Mo., had a record setting week for the Griffins while helping them to three wins. Brown totaled 23 blocks, including 19 block assists, as she took over the top spot in the Griffin record books for season block assists. Her top outing on the week was an eight block performance against Illinois College. She also totaled seven blocks twice and averaged 1.44 blocks per set on the week.

Oct. 24
(Offensive) Jessica Diehl, Spalding University
Jessica Diehl is this week's SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Golden Eagles to four wins on the week. Diehl, a senior middle blocker from Louisville, Ky., hit .443 on the week while reaching double figures in kills in all four matches. She had a high of 18 kills, adding six total blocks, in a 3-1 win over Webster. On the week Diehl finished with 54 kills, averaging 3.6 per set. She totaled 66 points in the four matches, averaging 4.4 per set. Diehl hit above .300 in all four matches including two matches with a .500 attack percentage. This is her second SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week award this season.

(Defensive) Savannah Sells, Greenville College
Savannah Sells picks up her second consecutive SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week award. Sells, a senior from Highland, Ill., made an impact defensively for the Panthers despite having two of three matches go just three sets. Sells totaled 10 blocks in the three matches including a high of eight blocks in a sweep of Fontbonne. She averaged 1.10 blocks per set on the week while adding 23 kills. She also chipped in with four digs and averaged 2.9 points per set on the week.

Oct. 17
(Offensive) Alyssa Cosgrove, Spalding University
Alyssa Cosgrove, a freshman from Spalding University, is the SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Cosgrove, an outside hitter from Louisville, Ky., had a career week with 39 kills in two wins. Cosgrove had a career high 20 kills in her team's win over Fontbonne and followed with 19 kills in a sweep of Eureka. She averaged 5.57 kills per set in the two matches while hitting .414 overall and totaling 41.5 points. She also added two service aces and an assist as Spalding has now won five of their last six matches.

(Defensive) Savannah Sells, Greenville College
Savannah Sells, a senior from Greenville College, is the SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Sells, from Highland, Ill., was a wall at the net for the Panthers this week; helping them record a pair of wins. Sells totaled 13 blocks in her two matches, averaging 1.86 blocks per set. She had a high of seven blocks in a win over Iowa Wesleyan including three solo stuffs. Sells also added 19 kills in the two matches, finishing with 27 total points. She is currently first in the SLIAC in total blocks with 99 and blocks per set.

Oct. 10
(Offensive) Jessica Diehl, Spalding University
Jessica Diehl, a senior from Louisville, Ky., is this week's SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Diehl, a middle blocker, was red hot hitting the ball last week; finishing her match against Webster among the top 10 performances in a match in NCAA Division III history. Diehl hit .818 in the match, ninth best in D3 history, with 18 kills and no errors on just 22 attacks. She followed with 12 kills in a five set loss to Greenville. On the week Diehl averaged 3.3 kills per set with 30 kills while hitting .551. She also averaged 4.2 points per set and added 11 digs and seven total blocks while accounting for 37.5 total points.

(Defensive) Katie O'Toole, Webster University
Katie O'Toole, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., is this week's SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. O'Toole averaged 7.3 digs per set over three matches last week for the Gorloks. She had a high of 29 digs in a four set win over Principia and reached 20 digs in all three matches. In her team's win over Iowa Wesleyan O'Toole became Webster's career leader in digs, surpassing 1,700 in her four year career. On the week she finished with 73 digs in 10 sets.

Oct. 3
(Offensive) Jory Siebenmorgen, Webster University
Jory Siebenmorgen is this week's SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Siebenmorgen, a senior from Eureka, Mo., powered Webster to a pair of conference wins on the week. She started the week with 13 kills in a sweep of Blackburn, hitting .600 in the match. Siebenmorgen was valuable in the Gorloks road win over Greenville, finishing with 17 kills while hitting .371 in the match. She also added 10 total blocks in the match, finishing with 22.5 points. On the week Siebenmorgen hit .455 and averaged 3.75 kills per set; accounting for 38.5 total points.

(Defensive) Cierra Howard, Iowa Wesleyan University
Cierra Howard picks up her third SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award this season after averaging 6.73 digs per set last week. Howard, a senior from Bellevue, Neb., totaled 74 digs in three matches last week including a high of 35 digs in a 3-1 win over Blackburn. In addition Howard added three service aces and 11 kills on the week.

Sept. 26
(Offensive) Kayla Reeg, Westminster College
Kayla Reeg, a senior setter from Westminster College, is the SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Reeg totaled 180 assists over four matches, helping the Blue Jays pick up three conference wins. Reeg averaged 10.00 assists per set and twice recorded more than 50 assists in a match on the week. She also added 10 kills, hitting .529 on the week, and 3.4 digs per set. Her top performance of the week came in a five set thriller against Webster when she finished with 56 assists and 19 digs.

(Defensive) Amanda Kiso, Westminster College
Amanda Kiso picks up SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors this week after providing a strong net defense for the Blue Jays. Kiso, a senior middle hitter, totaled 24 blocks on the week. She averaged 1.4 blocks per set in her team's four wins on the week. Kiso had a high of nine blocks in a five set win over Fontbonne. She also hit .362 on the week and added 30 kills. With her performance on the week Kiso sits tied for first in program history in career blocks with 336. She is currently fourth in the SLIAC in blocks per set this season.

Sept. 19
(Offensive) Hannah Marshall, Westminster College
A record setting performance helped Westminster College's Hannah Marshall take home a second consecutive SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week award. Marshall put down a school record 27 kills in her team's win over Spalding. Earlier in the week she added 12 kills in a win over Eureka and 13 kills in a win over Principia. On the week Marshall finished with 52 kills, averaging 4.73 kills per set. She hit .291 and chipped in with 2.18 digs per set while averaging 5.0 points per set.

(Defensive) Cierra Howard, Iowa Wesleyan University
Cierra Howard grabs her second straight SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week award after tallying 113 digs in four matches last week. Howard helped the Tigers go 2-2 on the week, averaging 7.06 digs per set. Showing her importance to the Tigers her two biggest performances came in the Tigers' two wins, recording 36 digs in each of the wins. Howard added 22 digs against Greenville and 19 against Grinnell.

Sept. 12
(Offensive) Hannah Marshall, Westminster College
Hannah Marshall, a junior from Westminster College, grabs SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Weeks this week after leading the Blue Jays to an undefeated week. Marshall, an outside hitter from Wildwood, Mo., averaged 4.0 kills per set through three matches last week. Twice she recorded double digit kills while hitting .348 on the week and averaging 4.8 points per set. Marshall had a high of 19 kills in her team's 3-2 win over Fontbonne. She made the most of short work in her match against Harris-Stowe, finishing with nine kills and a .818 hitting percentage in just two sets.

(Defensive) Cierra Howard, Iowa Wesleyan University
Cierra Howard, a senior from Bellevue, Neb., is the SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. The Iowa Wesleyan University libero put up back to back 30 dig performances last week in helping her team to two wins including their first conference win of the year. Howard totaled 31 digs in a 3-1 over Knox and followed with 38 digs in a 3-2 win against Fontbonne. On the week Howard averaged 6.42 digs per set, and she currently leads the conference in digs per set.

Sept. 5
(Offensive) Kersten McDonough, Fontbonne University
Kersten McDonough, a senior from Pacific, Mo., is the SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after powering her way to 34 kills over two matches in the opening week. McDonough started the week with 11 kills in a win over Harris-Stowe. She followed with 23 kills against Robert Morris-Springfield; giving her an average of 4.25 kills per set on the week. For the week she hit .359 and averaged 4.4 points per set.

(Defensive) Jessica Diehl, Spalding University
Jessica Diehl, a senior from Louisville, Ky., was a dominant defensive force at the net for Spalding as she helped the Golden Eagles to three wins on the opening weekend. Diehl recorded 18 total blocks including three solo blocks in her three outings; averaging 1.64 blocks per set. Diehl also chipped in with seven digs and added 33 kills.
